Faerie as Teachers of Liberation

We have already said that, among other unique traits of the faerie whose contact — though difficult — can be beneficial, their independence from predatory forces stands out especially — both demonic and Fomorian. The faerie don’t merely avoid having their energy seized; they are literally “invisible” to most predatory structures thanks to their special energetic organization.

And therefore, although a person normally cannot “reproduce those energetic traits of the faerie that make them “unpalatable” or “non-nutritious” for consumers of zhiva or libido, they nevertheless can learn from them how to coexist with predators and learn predators’ habits and weaknesses. Indeed, the faerie don’t need to defend against demons; they can withstand Fomors, and this, multiplied by the natural insight and curiosity of the Fair Folk, makes them unsurpassed “survival trainers” for a human being.

The first important skill a human can learn from the faerie is “energetic containment.” Unlike people, whose minds constantly leak energy through destructive emotions and interactions, the faerie, as we have already noted, are fully integrated. They have complete command of their energy currents, and this can be compared to a person being able to fully control their blood circulation through each vessel. Therefore, the faerie can teach how to develop such inner autonomy, integration, and inner consistency. Unlike “service” beings — angels or demons — who are also non-dual, the faerie are not ‘servants’ but free beings; they have no fixed life-functions and, like people, live to become aware and imprint. And therefore their experience of wholeness is far closer to humans than the non-duality of angels, who, nevertheless, are far more often perceived as “teachers.”

The faerie also have a special way of seeing the world that allows them not only to avoid dangers but also to interact with the In-Between without loss. And from this position, they can teach one to perceive the world in terms of flow and integration, to use magic as a way of transformation and adaptation.

Their longevity and adaptability have made the faerie magnificent strategists. They do not enter into direct confrontation, but they know how to play the “game” several moves ahead. And therefore, they can also be regarded as “trainers of strategic resistance.” They can show how to manipulate an opponent’s perception to make oneself “invisible” to them, how to use the weaknesses of predatory entities against those entities themselves.

One of the main mechanisms through which demonic and Fomorian forces gain access to people is their drives, fears, and emotions. The faerie, having a different kind of mind, are not subject to these manipulations. And in this sense, they can teach the art of emotional control, ways to live fully without “getting stuck” in emotions and attachments.

The faerie have long stopped waging war against Fomors and demons and have learned well how to avoid their influence. At the same time, the knowledge they have accumulated about the predators’ weak points can become the key to effective protection. For example, we said that Fomors cannot tolerate order and mental structure — which means that to oppose them, a Magus must be able to form a clear inner organization; demons, on the other hand, feed on unrealized, chaotic, and discarded emotions — and the faerie can teach how to close one’s energy channels, not allowing emotions to spill outward uncontrollably.

Their mode of existence is a state, not an act of will, which makes their teaching completely different from the traditional human approach to self-discipline.

Unlike human Magi, who often try to forcefully direct the mind into a certain channel, the faerie teach, first and foremost, to listen to inner currents and to find those states that naturally lead to the unfolding of potential. Their practice is not a struggle for wholeness, but natural development through flowing perception and living reality. In this sense, they are a wonderful example of how one can refrain from violence against the mind — not forcing oneself to be “correct,” but being authentic.

The mind of the faerie is image-based; they perceive the world through direct, “silent” knowing. In this sense, they can teach Magi to perceive the essence of objects or processes without dressing that understanding in words and concepts.

At the same time, the faerie value mutually beneficial relationships; they do not like one-sided energy exchanges, and therefore a human must have something to offer them as well. Despite the weakness, mortality, and fragmentation of the mind, people possess the ability for evolution, creativity, and self-transcendence. The faerie are harmonious but frozen in their being, whereas a human is the destroyer of the old and the creator of the new. A human lives on the edge between creation and destruction, life and death, risking destruction and seeking a way out of darkness — toward the light. And it is precisely in this ability to risk, to sacrifice oneself for the sake of transcendence, of a breakthrough to a new level, the main human gift lies. This is something the faerie cannot do on their own but can understand by observing people. This quality is what fascinates the faerie most, but also frightens them — and therefore they envy people; therefore only by loving a human can a faerie “gain a soul.” And for the same reason, the faerie respect those who do not shy away from the unknown — for example, Magi, shamans, travelers between worlds.

Thus, although the faerie can be unfriendly, their knowledge is invaluable for a human being. They can be mirrors of the mind, showing a Magus their true nature, helping to attain wholeness through honesty with oneself and a deep connection with the flows of being. They are masters of advanced protection against predators that govern and manipulate people, and if a Magus can establish the right and mutually beneficial contact with them, they will gain one of the most powerful instruments of liberation.

  1. Good time! I would like to understand deeper the concept of the ‘energy closure’ of fairies and their ability to be ‘invisible’ to predatory entities. The article states that fairies are not subject to energy leaks through destructive emotions and interactions, which makes them independent of predators. However, if their resilience is connected to the integrity of their consciousness and the absence of internal contradictions, does this mean that any striving for change, any opposition to internal disorder weakens the ‘magical’ being and makes it vulnerable to predatory forces? In other words, if the consciousness of fairies is stable and not subject to imbalance, does this not deprive them of the opportunity for self-development? After all, a person gains strength through struggle, change, and stepping beyond their boundaries. Does this mean that fairies are somewhat static and thus more protected, while humans are vulnerable yet capable of a transcendent leap? How can a mage achieve a balance between these two principles—the stability of fairies and the dynamism of human consciousness—to gain protection without losing the opportunity for growth?

    • Hello! Yes, fairies are characterized by energetic closure and wholeness, which makes them invisible and resistant to predatory forces. However, this is a consequence of their original state; they do not evolve as humans and biological beings do, as from the very moment of their ‘singing into being’, they were ‘complete’. Their nature is inherently balanced; they do not require changes to exist, and that is why they do not expend energy as humans do. Humans, on the contrary, are doomed to develop, as they are imperfect in every manifested moment of their existence. Their consciousness is fragmented, their energy flows away, they are subject to influences, and perhaps most importantly—they are compelled to fight for the fullness of their awareness. This struggle, their confrontation with chaos, internal and external, is what makes them magically powerful. Unlike fairies, whose protection lies in their original wholeness, humans protect themselves through change and adaptation. However, there are threats in this—chaotic growth, uncontrolled transformation, loss of identity. It is here that the knowledge of fairies proves valuable. It is important for the mage to realize that security and development are not opposites if understood as different levels of existence. Fairies can teach humans energetic closure, but if they attempt to reproduce it entirely, they will lose their nature, their ability to transcend, to move to new levels of awareness. Balance is achieved by clearly identifying and separating stability and mobility, closure and openness. On the one hand, a mage must create an unbreakable core of consciousness that remains unchanged despite any external storm. This core can be called the ‘center of balance’—it does not move even when everything around it is chaotic. On the other hand, consciousness must continuously explore, doubt, and transform, like fairies behave in the Interim, avoiding predators through perception barriers. In other words, a mage must integrate both qualities: the fairy-like ability to remain invulnerable and the human ability to transform. This is the path to true freedom, allowing one to step beyond predatory systems without losing individuality. In this way, fairies can teach mages to defend and maintain integrity, while mages, in turn, can teach fairies to move and change—and perhaps this is the reason for their interest in humans.

  2. Just as a person can reach the level of energy where they are invisible to most mages. But this direction is directly opposite to the magical path in its traditional interpretation. Such becoming largely depends on luck, especially when there are no human nuisances to interfere. That’s why monasteries were created.

  3. I have always wondered if the Fairies were involved in the emergence of Christianity.
