Layers of the Mind

mind

We have said many times that from the perspective of the Myth under discussion, psychocosmos and the macrocosm, as two reflections of the single reality of the Great Spirit, are structured similarly, and the task of any embodied being is to establish correspondences between them.

In other words, the active part of the mind is that part of the mind for which a correspondence in the macrocosmic energies has been found, and the actual part of the macrocosm is that part of it accessible to conscious perception.

And the very process of manifested existence, therefore, is a search for correspondences between the “internal”, psychocosmic, and the “external” — macrocosmic energies. This process must proceed in parallel in both worlds — as knowledge of the surrounding reality and as self-knowledge.

Note that from this perspective both concentrating on the macrocosm — the “scientific approach” — and total immersion in the psychocosmos — the mystic’s Way — are less effective than their harmonious combination, which ought to be the Magus’s Way.

duality

Of course, one must not forget the principle of the uroboros — a perfected mystic who has understood the structure of the psychocosmos will readily find its counterparts in the “surrounding world”, and a perfected “scholar” will grasp the manifestations of consciousness. Nevertheless, harmonious development requires both types of activity, cultivated in mutual accord.

This Myth distinguishes four fundamental levels of manifested existence accessible to the human mind: mineral, plant, animal, and human, which can be found in both macrocosmic and psychocosmic reality.

Moreover, these four levels manifest in three layers — “lower” – disordered, “middle” – ordering, and “upper” – ordered, so that in total twelve manifested layers are accessible to the human mind.

Although the “ordinary”, “daytime” consciousness is at the center of the psychocosmos — that is, at the “human” level of the “middle” world, and perceives adjoining parts of physical and psychic reality that adjoin this level — it must strive to reach the other levels as well.

journey

We have already said that “inner” predators are no less dangerous than “external” ones. However, the law of analogies applies in other contacts and transformations of the mind.

In particular, it must be clearly understood that the mind cannot “descend” to the animal level, much less into the “lower” world, and at the same time retain the qualities of a human mind. The mistake of many Magi is that they hope to “become” an animal while keeping a human mind.

A Magus whose mind shifts to the animal level is not a human merely “appearing” as an animal; he is precisely an animal that perceives the world as an animal, thinks as an animal, though it may retain some human energetic traces.

The same mistake appears in attempts to master the forces of the Lower worlds, for example — in Riding the Dragon. Magi often assume that, since the Dragon (in the psychocosmic sense) is a manifestation of the Magus’s mind, it will automatically submit to the human level of that mind. In practice, it turns out that the Dragon can not only attack the human mind but even devour it, and the process of the inner hunt is no less complex and dangerous than the “external” hunt.

duality

The mind’s ascent is no different. Contact with its “higher” layers — for example, the so-called “knowledge and conversation with the HGA” — is fraught with ” strikes of light” and other complications, as are external contacts with higher energies. The human mind’s absorption into higher layers is neither a blessing nor an achievement, as it may seem at first glance; it disrupts proper development, which risks repeating existence, since it diverts one from harmonizing the cosmoses — the primary task of individual manifestation.

The Magus must clearly understand that his battles are in the center of his world, in his Midgard, both macrocosmic and psychocosmic. Only by fully using this center’s resources can he most effectively carry out his development, and thus gain a chance to liberate his mind.

  1. Thank you for the interesting topic! One question has ripened – tell me, what will happen to a mage who “abuses” contact with higher forms of energy? After all, building bridges and breaking down walls in the psychocosmos becomes increasingly difficult, and for every next step, one has to fight much harder than for the previous one; and to maintain intensity without dissipating along the way some harmonizing, organizing forces are needed. You wrote about purifications and the reshaping of the soul, but if, for example, the mage “scrapes off the husk” using external forces rather than internal resources (say, fire purifications)?

    • Of course, “external” sources of energy can be used for “internal” changes. This is the basis for many ritual approaches and all Alchemy.

  2. Indeed, consciousness changes its properties when changing the form it relies upon. The same applies to the so-called “altered states of consciousness.” Having significant experience in researching ASC, I have always noticed that I find myself completely different there, with different reactions, different flows…
And I think this also applies to ‘posthumous’ states of consciousness. Consciousness, having lost its support on the physical body and fixed on any other point of support, is something completely and absolutely different in its “world perception.” To think that in those states something will be preserved from the properties that were present in ‘being in the body’ is unlikely to be correct. But what is preserved?…
I believe it is important to explore and work on the questions of “memory transfer.” Memory, it seems, can be transferred from body to body after going through “bardo” (intermediate states)… One can also partially transfer some “experience” from different states and forms of life. Self-identification is based on a certain kind of memory.

    • I do not remember where I read it: a certain Master was walking down the road with his son. It seems the son was pierced by a bullet, and the Master instantly reacted and knocked out from the body of his falling son his (I don’t know how to properly name it) either soul, or consciousness, or something else and placed the consciousness of the son into the body of a worker who was cultivating the nearby field, simultaneously knocking out the worker’s consciousness. The Master saved his son’s life. I don’t know whether he did the right thing or whether he violated the Law of Balance by taking the body from an innocent person, but the essence is not in that. – The essence is that there are ways (under certain circumstances) to continue “life” in another physical body despite the seeming inevitability of death. The Master did what is called a “transfer” – transplanting that part of the human being (self-identifying) that “exits” into “bardo” to another point of support…. Wizards who place their so-called “spirit” in the bodies of other living people feed off their life force while alive. Moreover, wizards are well aware that placing their “spirit” into someone else’s body is relatively easy, but “pulling the spirit back” is quite difficult and lengthy. If a sick person, infected with the wizard’s spirit, finds a Master capable of “pulling out the spirit,” then the wizard will definitely die. If a wizard dies while his spirit remains alive in living people, then it lingers long enough in the elements, sucking the life force from living people, and expelling the wizard’s spirit that has become an elementar is much more difficult. – This is one way to “prolong life” – though this method is poor and does not lead to development, only movement in a closed circle. – It seems, Maxim, you are talking about something similar.

    • The system of death implies transportation, but the latter consumes energy. Hence the loss of memory.

  3. Of course, I am not talking about that at all. We are talking about Tibetan practices of lamas and karmapas, whereby the “soul” of the deceased lama or karmapa reincarnates very quickly, and the disciples look for the born child as the next incarnation of that lama or karmapa. The child is examined for things that the lama knew, that is, part of the memory is somehow preserved and transferred to the next incarnation. Of course, there are many questions here: maybe it’s just opening access to solutions, maybe it’s all a fraud, it’s still unclear regarding self-identification, etc.

  4. Indeed, such “circling back” does not allow the Monad to evolve. For development, it is necessary for consciousness not to remain permanently in the same layer but to evolve to new levels of being. But this does not remove the question of preserving the thread of self-identity.

    • Maybe let’s try to figure this out? Does the Monad develop? – As far as I understand – the Monad is already perfect as an aspect of the Absolute, but it is potential, that is, its potential is Originally Unknowable by the specific being – a projection of this Monad in Being. Since the Essence of the creature’s life in the complex of its incarnations is the actualization of the Monad’s potentials, realizing one opens the path to the realization of strictly defined subsequent ones, suggesting that as optimally as possible, lamas, having once realized their Aur, but not solving all tasks in one incarnation, perhaps with the help of the Free spirit, aggregate unresolved tasks of their Vird in a new incarnation. As for memory – I think that if one brings as much as possible whirlwinds generated by the past incarnation into a new incarnation, then this concentration of whirlwinds will contain “hyperlinks” to the imprints of (solvable) events that took place in the past incarnation; that is, the child does not know the things of the lama, but upon contact with these things, or at least hints of them, the hyperlinks activate and the child recognizes the things of the lama. What do you think about that?

  5. I want to organize an Institute for the study of all these things, but I need sponsors…

    • An Institute, Maxim, is a flexible concept))). For instance, an institute as an organization of joint activities of people (read: mages) implementing (integrating, uniting) individual elements into a holistic system through synthesis (the process of merging) will give each participant, united by a common (similar) Path, a push for development (that which is easy for one becomes an insurmountable wall for another, upon which they bang their heads for years), and fusion without mixing (with sufficient sobriety to understand the limits of the “own” and the “common” allows one to reveal (actualize) previously unknown potentials of the Monad…………………………… Knowledge becomes Power when its separate elements – puzzles connect into a picture-system…………………………..So why sponsors? 🙂 Perhaps mages united by a similar Path should gather for more effective advancement? (of course avoiding the gatherings of esoterics and egregoric unions). You and I and the attendees know of a mage who can lead through the gates of disunity to harmonious unity.

P.S. …Sometimes we dream of “something more.” Are the ambivalent archons masters over all our dreams?

    • …and it has been five years, yet there are still no sponsors. And the ‘Center’ remains there. I manage people and, by the will of fate, I have to observe how they devour themselves with fruitless illusions. Thanks to them, I learn how NOT to do it. How pointless it is to help them, giving away energy and resources. Everything goes into the abyss, into a bottomless cup… Sometimes negative motivation helps: to point out and show a person their weakness, their inability to apply their own Gifts, Benedictions, and Talents… and then, if there is even a drop of Strength in the person – they mobilize and do something worthwhile – for example, realize their own dream… but this doesn’t work most of the time, unfortunately.

      • 2 Tavita Shauta. You are right. And thank you for your comment. Everything is already taken into account.

  6. Max, everything has long been studied. There are Schools, Lines, Traditions. People are connected to the informational field. You just need to learn to draw from it.
The world is fragile despite its greatness; there are too many weak points located at the borders of forces.
Despite its significance, the information flow is fragile. And ignorant handling of it leads to overload, which negatively affects the world itself and primarily the beings inhabiting it.

    • Numen, what made you think that everything has long been studied? And that the information entering consciousness from the “informational field” is guaranteed to be true and not just whispers of creatures?………………… For example, today it is still not exactly known what the purpose of the internal structure of the three great pyramids in Egypt is. There are plenty of hypotheses, but they are nothing more than hypotheses))) We really do not know who and with what purpose built the three-tier caves in Peru where unique and incomprehensible artifacts were found. Von Däniken noted many mysteries of our planet in his works, which, after thousands of years, remain unsolved. Remember Schliemann, everyone thought that Troy was a fairy tale, but he turned the world upside down and found his Troy. He realized his dream… Much remains to be studied – this world is full of secrets and mysteries.
Modern scientists have excelled in “dissecting frogs,” but no one has ever synthesized a tuned frog by analyzing the dissection. Tesla’s developments have been shoved into a distant drawer by science. It is not beneficial for magnates for ordinary people to extract electricity from the atmosphere, from lightning strikes. Who would pay them for “their” property.. Gustave Geley organized an institute of metapsychics for the scientific study of ectoplasm in the 19th century. He observed all formalities of the scientific method while conducting experiments. He wrote a report. Declared to the whole world: “We have defeated materialism” – And where is his victory? Where has it gotten stuck? – Authoritative scientific circles benefited from Darwin, who crafted a Neanderthal skull from pieces of human and ape skulls, because at one time Darwin’s theory helped science gain the upper hand over religion. God lost ground; it turned out he was not the creator of humans, but rather primordial broth))) The light of knowledge interested no one, only personal gain.

  7. I want to add a little.
This flow is merely assistance in mastering the basic knowledge. It merely nudges towards self-disclosure and actualization of new potentials.
It is necessary to know, but it is more important to bring something new into this world. For example, to create/develop/improve technologies for generating Light. Yes, for this, I must know the basic laws. But the main task of Mages is not to use resources for oneself but to bring something new, better, and that gives power for a new cycle of the development of the World.

  8. “Numen, how did you come to the conclusion that everything has been studied for a long time? And the information coming into the consciousness from the ‘information field,’ what guarantee is there that it is true and not the whisper of creatures?” Any created world is a symbiosis of the energies of the creator. The larger the energies you are familiar with, the more opportunities it opens up for you to implement technologies. Truth? Only through your experience.

  9. Dear Enmerkar, can you please tell me if I understand correctly the search for correspondences in consciousness and in the external world. Does this mean that I should feel external reactions to something inside me and, conversely, internal reactions to external events? That is, for example, I take a certain state as a ‘reaction’ and then orient myself to it? Or how can this be physically felt? That is, should I physically feel or perceive these correspondences, or should it happen differently? I’m asking this because I had an experience where the sequence was exactly this: first, there were thoughts that something needed to change, then the search for paths, then the search for some kind of waves externally, in the world, and then something like a response manifested with a clear physical sensation, and then a complete change in the situation. In general, I understood that I need to orient myself to this sensation. But when I read and listen to you, I understand that I have a somewhat ‘asking’ position, and I should not be asking but managing it. In general, if you understood even a little of my question, please explain how it should be, firstly, how to discern what is within me and what is outside of me, how to analyze it, and how to change it all according to the situation? Or at least how to recognize those correspondences or the difference?

    • The matter is that in the psychocosmos and in the macrocosmos, the same energies are present – in their ‘psychic’ and ‘energetic’ manifestations, respectively. And any stream of energy in the macrocosm strictly corresponds to a stream in consciousness; these streams appear simultaneously and are mutually conditioned.

      • Thank you for your answer, but I still don’t understand how to know that they (the streams) have appeared, how is this felt (or sensed)? Dear Enmerkar, there are so many different streams around us, how can they be distinguished, and especially, how to understand that some of them appeared simultaneously and correspond? Please write it more clearly.

        • GLA, Enmerkar does not respond when a person waits for ready answers or instructions, but often responds when a person tries to figure things out on their own, putting in effort to find the answer. As he said, ‘the right question should already contain part of the answer.’ You have many questions right away, going far beyond the article, and although it’s written unclearly, I can assume it’s about the division between male and female modes of interaction. In any case, the ability to manage and control what is happening is necessary in both male and female pathways.

        • How to feel the streams? A simple example: if you are positive, positivity will attract you, life will become brighter. If you are in a state of negativity and evil, negativity will be attracted, exacerbating the situation and your manifestation. To see and feel the streams is already the next level.

        • I don’t know how it is here, but I have always solved this question by introducing the essence of the observer. That is, in my consciousness, an Observer is created, which observes the main activity. Basically, it’s observing oneself. From the perspective of the observer, it is quite convenient to note which streams appear, and learn to distinguish them, watching how internal streams correspond to external ones. You really have many questions. It would be good to learn to ask them more specifically, not just here, but to the Universe in general. Then more specific answers will also come. Maybe from us, maybe from the Universe. 🙂

          • Theo, thank you, I think this method will suit me. I ask many big questions because I need simple answers to them, like yours. Over a lifetime, a lot of information accumulates, it needs to be organized, I am looking for keys to that. I may be mistaken, but in principle, sometimes it helps me. That is, I perceive my consciousness (or whatever it is – perhaps the soul or something else) as an absolute structure that knows everything and can do everything. I sort of prescribe a task for it (the structure) that needs to be solved, and it finds the answer. That is, without my participation. But now I still want to figure out how else this can work. How to distinguish these streams, manage them… So, therefore, it seems to me that if I ask questions, then one of the answers will surely point to the right path, a system will appear, and organization will come. You know, like a school student who knows a lot but has missed a lot; just one lesson with a good teacher is enough, and they will understand how to sort through the pile of knowledge they have and what knowledge is needed for all of this to be useful.
