Vectors of the Mind
The realization of the mind’s potentials, as we have said many times, occurs as a result of establishing correspondence between elements of the psycho-cosmos and the macrocosm, which takes place in the process of awareness.
In this process an undifferentiated Life Force is transformed into an ordered power of awareness. However, the process of transforming forces — awareness — requires a certain «jolt», a spark, a triggering energy in their mutual resonance.
In other words, it is not enough to bring energies into mutual correspondence; one must also «open the vessel» — that is, to activate this correspondence. To do this, it is necessary to overcome the barrier of perception — the force that holds the mind in the “stable” position of its current state.
In fact, Magic is a set of approaches aimed precisely at creating bridges through which power can enter the mind, a set of approaches that allow the level of the mind’s functioning to exceed the ordinary. And although, as is well known, any conscious action is “magical”, overcoming the mind’s barriers sometimes requires actions not used in everyday life, since “everyday” existence requires only those actions that ensure survival and basic mental functioning at a basic level. These approaches that advance the mind are usually called magic, although, strictly speaking, they constitute only its superficial layer.
Such overcoming of the mind’s barriers requires special tools that allow one to energize and develop the mind.
Since, as we have already said, a flow of power can be described in two ways, Magic uses additional vortices and vectors to expand consciousness.
Vortical “impulses” form the basis of competitive rituals, while vector currents are used in the “internal Galdr”. Depending on which principle of the psychocosm requires support, both approaches can be applied sequentially or in parallel.
Note that in terms of mental development the primary task of any ritual is not achieving a particular external effect, but precisely the expansion of the boundaries of perception, the increase in the power of awareness — that is, self-realization.
A unique support system that helps organize and channel the mind’s currents is the Runes.
The form and degree of directional shaping of the mind that arises through interaction with these Signs can be very valuable for the development of intelligence without detriment to the emotional principle. The Runic spirit — the spirit of the warrior-poet — allows the mind to attain that high degree of harmony that makes it highly effective.
The process of carving runes, regardless of the technique used, brings the psychocosm into contact with a highly ordered system of energies that creates a cosmic ordering of the mind itself.
The creation of Runic talismans, inscribing vis, or even less-traditional “runic exercises” or “meditations on the Runes”, when approached seriously, prove invaluable in the development of the mind.
Moreover, the reverse is true: whenever a Magus attempts to organize his mind, he, willingly or not, encounters Runic forces. For example, by training himself to finish what he starts, he activates the force of Ingwaz, while trying to organize result attainment activates Fehu and Jera. Each time he cultivates a sense of the unity of the cosmos, the Magus brings into his mind the vector of Eihwaz, and by effectively confronting spontaneity — introduces Perth’s vector into his psychocosm.
At the same time, a clear understanding of the nature, characteristics, and scope of action of each vector gives the Magus the opportunity to significantly expand his influence on the realization of the mind’s potentials, and thus to increase his effectiveness in life.
