Bridges for Power

As we have already said, a necessary condition for the acceptance of Power is not only aligning the Vessel with the incoming Light it is to receive, but also establishing contact between Power and its vessel.

Opening the Gates of Power is an equally necessary condition for both the mind seeking expansion and the acceptance of Power, and for any point intended to become a support for the flow of awareness.

The ability to build such bridges, by which Power enters the mind and fills its support points, is an essential part of the magical arts.

On the one hand, it includes approaches that prepare the mind itself for the acceptance of Power, and on the other — methods of establishing correspondences between the support points and the vortices of Power that settle on them.

The need to “consecrate” amulets and talismans, to “cleanse” the ritual space, to “activate” items of Power and Symbols of Authority, and sacrifice as an important part of any Ritual is precisely connected with the necessity of building bridges for Power.

Often failures to fulfill certain desires, failures in rituals, and losses in magical battles are connected with the fact that the proper bridges were not built, the necessary contact between Power and its bearers was not established, and therefore the Light’s attempt to fill the Vessel intended for it failed.

Many Magi do not approach the Rituals of consecration and blessing of various magical implements with sufficient seriousness, considering them “secondary” or not the most important, and theurgists often do not “open the mouths” of the vessels of divine energies with sufficient diligence. Meanwhile, a clear understanding of the absolute necessity of properly conducting this stage will avoid a great many mistakes and wasteful dissipation of energy.

In order to correctly “build the bridge” by which Power will enter the vessel intended for it, it is necessary to clearly understand both the nature of the invoked Power and the characteristics of the vessel itself.

For example, depending on its subsequent purpose, a Runic set may be activated either during staining with blood, or may require an additional summoning of the energies from the Worlds of Yggdrasil, or perhaps a simple cleansing with basic energies may suffice, or a combination of several ritual approaches may be needed. Furthermore, in choosing a method of activation, one must take into account the place from which the material for the set was taken and the conditions under which it was collected. In particular, if a runic set is made from wood growing on a Place of Power, then cleansing may expel the energies of that place, and if that place was also marked by gods, blood-staining may impede the flow of divine energies and replace it with the operator’s personal emanations. Thus it is important to be clear about what the operator intends to do and why, and how prepared they are to accept the result of that action.

Similarly, in a goetic operation a blood sacrifice may be used to allow a spirit to materialize as fully as possible, but if the operator is not ready to control such a spirit, then, on the contrary, an excessive release of life-force will prevent them from achieving their goal or may even lead to possession.

However, in any case one must not underestimate the importance of correctly building bridges for Power in the performance of any rituals. This will prevent many mistakes and wasteful energy loss, and significantly increase effectiveness within the world of Magic.

  1. Hello! You have described very concisely and beautifully what has recently concerned me, thank you 🙂 But if I may ask a small question for clarification? This is the second time I am facing this problem: during rituals (Search), everything goes great (as far as I can judge), there is a huge influx of power or to say Strength, the world around changes becoming predictably symbolic (I cannot describe it otherwise), somewhat my own, as if tamed, later comes euphoria and a feeling of total understanding (extraordinarily vivid and slowed perception), attempts to stop this, returning to normal, help only briefly; the more you concentrate on yourself, the stronger the resistance from the outside (up to wandering gypsies and a pack of dogs), and the last stage is already almost there, just a little more and the cherished goal is in sight, very clearly, and then… a break. Essentially the result is not achieved in either case. And the question is – is the above description indicative of a wrong approach/building a bridge with the Power (in the sense of loss of control over consciousness under its influence when the internal emotional background simply goes off the scale)?

    • Do not confuse euphoria with inspiration. The state of a Mage’s Strength is not an ‘altered state of consciousness’, not trance and not euphoria. It is, first of all, a state of control, a state of balance between Apollonian and Dionysian beginnings. You have described a typical Dionysian state when the element of feelings takes a dominant position in consciousness but, not being balanced by reason, remains barren. The ritual will of the Mage is an inspired formulation of ‘it is as it should be’, without trances, ecstasies, and sobbing, in a state of sobriety and awakening, when all necessary steps have been taken.
