For its self-knowledge, the Great Spirit separates a primordial pair within itself — the knower and the known — and, in the absolute sense, this very process of reflection is synonymous with actualization.
Any being, as a Microcosm, contains within itself all the potentials of the Great Spirit; however, for their actualization and realization the process of self-knowledge is required, and therefore requires subject-object separation.
If a being strives to return to potential unity — the subject-object division must be removed — as in the Eastern Way. If a being strives for integral unity (in the Western Way), then, conversely, its potentials must be revealed as clearly as possible, and thus the subject-object division must be utterly obvious.
These obvious considerations have a number of important consequences.
The Western Way is ineffective in solitude, since the differentiation between subject and object of realization within a single mind presents a number of difficulties.
On the one hand, such a division is absolutely necessary. A mind that lacks an internal difference of potentials has no means of generating energy, and therefore is incapable of development. This fact is of key importance for Magic. The higher the internal tension of the Magus, the greater the intensity of his being, and thus the more effective the realization.
On the other hand, reflection becomes even more effective when a mind finds its reflection not only in itself but also in another mind. Since mind is initially oriented “outward,” toward seeking and establishing correspondences between the Macro- and the Psychocosmos, it can successfully find its reflection in another mind — provided there is consonance, a “resonance” between them.
And everything would be good, easy, and right, if the world were not “fallen“, partially obscured as a result of the very process of its differentiation. This means that in any process of reflection, besides the subject and the object of cognition, there is also the “interspace” between them — a conditional space necessary for the emergence of a potential difference, which includes destructive elements — the “husk.”
Woven into the process of self-knowledge is the destructive influence of the Parasite of the mind (Lamassu), which leads to a reduced effectiveness of self-realization, as well as demonic manifestations that cause power drains.
Both kinds of destructive influences manifest at the level of the “internal” reflection and at the level of reflection “in another mind.”
Trying to “sort oneself out,” a person often confuses their own voice with the whisper of the Parasite, and embarks on the path of pursuing their whims, destroying the very foundations of their embodiment. In trying to find their reflection “in another,” a person risks focusing on an alien mind, and thus — once again — receives a distorted image.
Equally dangerous is fanatical trust in Masters and teachings that have not been thoroughly tested for affinity with one’s personal Way and one’s specific mind, and the “dissipation” of mind into an amorphous “love for all that exists.”
In order to “trust oneself“, one must be certain that one is hearing precisely oneself, and not foreign whispers. One must repeatedly verify one’s inclinations and aspirations to ensure they are truly one’s and undistorted.
Nevertheless, until a mind finds support in itself, until the system of the Psychocosmos is ordered and hierarchized, it has no chance of stable and effective development.
And before “loving the whole world” and “seeing God in everything,” it is necessary to check whether you really love someone specific. An individual mind can find its reflection only in another individual mind, and diffuse “universal love” usually means lack of real love. Remaining an embodied being, using the body as a conduit of awareness, it is impossible to fully disassociate from individuality even following the Eastern Way, and therefore all assertions of embodied people about their “cosmization” are simply false. Losing connection with individual embodiment — a mind loses its embodiment, and thus no one remains to reason about “absolute” love. Before loving the whole world, one must be sure that one loves the person beside you. And only by loving the universe in someone specific is it possible to love the universe as such.
Another critically important point is the degree of affinity with those in whom you wish to find your reflection. The variant “I fashioned them from what was available, and then loved what there was” is very common, but rather unsuitable from the standpoint of development. People like to surround themselves with those who are easiest to be with, regardless of how this affects their development. Unfortunately, people commonly call “friends” not those who help them grow, but those who do not prevent their degeneration. People call “teachers” not those who stimulate growth, but those who indulge weaknesses and whims. And herein lies a widespread reason for ineffective development.
It is necessary to take into account the necessity and importance of both kinds of self-knowledge, as well as the possibility of errors in each. And, as always — the key to effectiveness is honesty and attentiveness, a clear-sighted mind, readiness to realize oneself, the willingness to acknowledge and correct mistakes, and the readiness to exert effort in seeking and realizing oneself.
Is there any reliable way to test your “attractions and desires” other than listening to your heart? Because you want to be with a person with all your being, but they find all sorts of excuses just not to change their life. And you sit in doubts, maybe this isn’t for me?

There are many ways to check one’s ‘attractions and aspirations’ towards a person. In my opinion, ‘listening to the heart’ is not so much a way of verification but rather a tool of verification. And to use the tool, a suitable situation is also needed.
I have mentioned here before that the word LOVE itself is interpreted as ‘People KNOW the B-Yugs.’ And the soft sign in the letter means fulfillment and continuation of action. One acquaintance of mine tried to do it this way. It resulted in a heavy burden above, attacks from all sides, and a complete uncertainty about where to go. She did not know how to behave. Panic, confusion, doubts. She could not carry it. Not only could she not maintain the vessel of love, but she also shattered her own vessel of consciousness. She nearly lost her mind. For a couple of years, she was food for predators. She likely clawed her way back thanks to the denial of the hostile reality and still her innate ability to crystallize consciousness. From her former self, about ten percent remains.
