The Living Heart

A feature of the human state of mind is the maximum interconnection within it of the principles of the Psychocosmos among themselves and of the Psychocosmos with the Macrocosmos.

In other words, when the Magi say that the human being is at the “center of the cosmos,” they do not mean that it is the greatest or most beautiful of all possibilities; they are merely describing this level of mind.

As we have often discussed, this position makes the human a “junction point” of two Powers, a point where they touch but do not intersect.

What this means for the cosmos as a whole is clear: humans uniquely have the broadest scope of freedom of development, distinguishing them from higher and lower levels of mind.

However, this position also has broad consequences for the Psychocosmos, such as the ambivalence of “good” and “evil“, creation and destruction, balanced in humans.

This makes the human not only the most “capable” point in the cosmos for development but also the system most vulnerable to predatory destruction.

A human is capable of both the brightest manifestations of light and the deepest plunges into darkness, although, for the most part, they usually settle for a grey neutral position.

It is clear that the drive toward equilibrium is dictated by the very definition of the human level of mind as the “dew point” of the world’s forces.

And this equilibrium is both the main advantage and the chief obstacle to mental development. Indeed: on the one hand, at the midpoint all development paths are equally open, but on the other — there is no incentive to pursue them.

This is precisely why, incidentally, the Magi strive to unbalance their minds to find motivation to move, using the human tendency toward equilibrium as a driving force.

However, for a person who lacks a clear understanding of the need for development, the equilibrium position becomes a jailer, shackling their desires and paralyzing their will.

Since will as a neutral principle needs fuel in the form of desire, it is precisely the development of the realm of feeling that opens the door to mental development.

People often speak of a “callous heart,” meaning poverty in that sphere, but from a magical point of view, a living, trembling heart capable of love and compassion is not only a “positive” moral trait but also the most important prerequisite for development.

It is clear that this sphere is not without destructive forces, and we have already discussed some of them. Nevertheless, the Magus who has suppressed within himself the ability to rejoice and to grieve, to marvel and to pine, and above all — to love — limits the possibilities of his development, although it makes development more gradual.

The living realm of feeling provides the nourishment for the will to move, without which development turns into a dull and limited existence. A living heart is no less necessary to the Magus than a living mind or a fiery will. And taking into account the chilling influence of Niflheim, so often unnoticed by Magi and mistaken for a sign of “advancement,” the development of the realm of feeling often becomes the key task of the overall development of the mind.

  1. Thank you! Here it is – what I have talked about more than once or twice! Thank you for presenting your thoughts in a coherent form, as I always end up saying the wrong thing. Now I can simply send those I will be explaining the state described in this topic to your blog.
You are an amazing person, you always manage to guide me, and not only me, on the right path.

  2. Hmm. Excellent. While reviewing other blog articles, one might think that this path is too “dark,” gloomy, relying solely on willpower.
Such articles should be added more often; it’s too important to have a flame in your heart)

    Thank you, very inspiring.
Especially for those who cannot get off the dead center year after year… Maybe at least the fire of desire and dreams will help them gain will.

  3. To the Dancing in the Fire: it’s very strange to see the words “dark and gloomy” regarding the Path described on this blog. And in my opinion, in every post you can hear the beating of a “Living Heart”.

  4. It is heard, it is heard. At least to me. But the truth is in the ears and not in the words..)

  5. Just as complete darkness is needed for a pearl –
So suffering is needed for the soul and mind.
Have you lost everything, and your soul is empty?
This cup will fill itself again!

  6. Some off-topic, but I will say. It seems to me that the Sense of Self-Importance, from the perspective of Latin American writers, is the Most Major Mortal Sin, in reality is not such a sin, if viewed from the perspective of the Western Path.
After all, if the Sense of Self-Importance is completely absent, so is that which can be a stimulus for development. Thus, the one who has completely eliminated his Sense of Self-Importance (precisely eliminated, not just thinks he has) raises a fuss as soon as someone doubts their elimination, javascript:appendSmiley(‘:-)’)) along with the water they throw out the baby. To some extent, a certain amount of Sense of Self-Importance must be present, as it creates a stimulus for growth. Balance is the basis of Doing. In this regard, there should also be a balance between the presence and absence of Sense of Self-Importance.

  7. Only without control can one get by, otherwise the process of transitioning between emotions may become energy-consuming; outpourings always attract the thirsty, and regarding self-importance, it’s better when it is self-respect: the feeling of one’s own dignity, which differs from the show-off: the presence of successful practical experience.

  8. Respect to Balthazar for the poetic form of wisdom and for the nickname.
TVP – respect for self-respect, I liked the brevity and conciseness of your thoughts.

  9. Thank you, Alira. It’s just a pity that the poetic form is not mine. But, as Enmerkar writes, wise thoughts belong to each of us.

  10. Enmerkar, can you tell me where the last image in this post is taken from and how it is interpreted?

  11. Dear Enmerkar and sites members. Sorry that in english. Happy new year!
Let your truely and wonderfull intentions to be set up in the life.
With best wishes and small gift for you.

“To fall in a love right today, would be best,
That all what we are searching on our request.
Desere and dream for the feelings in heart,
Be ready for this, to give manything up.
The love plays us foolish and makes us so blind,
Remains us a children without a mind, Turns down to bottom the brain from the had,
Smash off wholl order, push on to be mad.
For all that then, appear we wings,
And sparking and shining can fly like a wind.
Love grows us in beauty and greatest essence-
What reason of life is, the basicly sence!
So if you are thirsty and starving for light,
Fall in a love now, cheer up for the high!”

  12. The topic is quite painful… But what about the idea that predators feed on our energy through emotions and feelings? It doesn’t matter if they are good, bad, high, low, pleasant, or unpleasant. Predators manipulate us into releasing emotions and feelings through the predator’s mind that is embedded in us. Love, hate, fear, aggression – any form of energy and any way of manipulation is good for them. So what to do? I wholeheartedly support the living heart, but from personal experience, I have confirmed that often its ‘living tremor’ is merely the outpouring of one’s own blood under the guise of the intoxicating whisper of the predator.

    • Predators do not feed on anything that you are consciously aware of as your own. They do not feed on feelings – only emotions, and cannot forcibly take anything – only through deception and trickery. Therefore, there’s no need to arm oneself in armor under the guise of fighting predators, which, although it may protect, restricts movement and limits development.

      • So, is it enough to recognize everything as one’s own? I don’t understand. Some stimulus causes an explosion of emotions within me that is about to erupt. Something in me wants to explode. It seems that if I consciously accept this desire as my own and erupt with these emotions as if they are mine consciously, then energy loss will not occur?

  13. Everything is clear, thank you, but it seems this is relevant and very important for the human wave of life and for this ‘family of monads’…? After all, there may be magicians from other worlds, other waves and epochs, other rings of time (evolution) – incarnated here, for whom the question of emotions and feelings will stand completely differently or not arise at all… One phrase comes to mind: ‘We live too long, we have seen too much… To live as we do means to live above joy, love, and friendship because we know that all this is transient, that all this will turn to dust… Only those whose lives are short can imagine that love is eternal. Do not part with this wonderful illusion – perhaps this is the greatest gift your race has ever received…’ (C) Lorien (Babylon 5)
