Desires and Desirers

creation

The idea of the necessity of realizing desires as a way of developing the mind — of generating power — is extraordinarily important and a cornerstone of the myth we are examining.

The notion of the birth of reality as a product of desire can be extended both to the macrocosmic and to the psychocosmic picture of that reality. In other words, one may say that both the “objective reality” we observe and the “inner” reality of mind itself are formed by fields of varying tension composed of realized, aspiring, and suppressed desires.

In this sense the principle of desire constitutes the primordial “substrate” from which actual reality is extracted, formed, and woven. The impulses arising in this principle, processed and directed by the directional influences of intelligence, manifest as active agents — forces — expressions of the “aggregate” principle of will. On the macrocosmic level this process is described as the “birth of reality” from the “virtual bubbling of the vacuum,” where “reality” corresponds to “will,” and the “boiling of the vacuum” to desires; the laws and interactions that determine this process are precisely the “principle of intelligence.” From the standpoint of the mind, the psychocosm, the volitional character of actual reality is often underestimated. In other words, everything that is done, accomplished, realized, actualized is the product (and form of existence) of will, for which desires are the “substrate” and intelligence the directing element.

universe

It follows that the reality in which we live, both in the psychocosmic and the “physical” sense, is the product of realized desires. It is important, however, that this statement is true in reverse as well — that what arises, what exists, and even the one who acts are manifestations of desires.

We tend to think that desires have some explicit source, “one who desires” exists, desire is the product of the desirer; but in fact it is not hard to notice that, conversely, the agent is not the source but the result of realization — of desires. We, as a manifest being, do not create desires; we are the product of desires.

To resolve this contradiction between the agent’s instinct to “be the primary source” and empirical evidence suggesting the opposite, concepts such as the “Higher Self,” Atman, Monad, and the like are often introduced as “generators” of desires. In any case, if one penetrates beyond all postulates and silences, one discovers that these “sources” have no actual existence; they are all potential, and it is precisely the realization of desires that is the way to their actualization.

Thus, although the principle of desires is by no means the entirety of our being, it supplies the “fuel” for the actualization of our potentials. It is our desires that determine what and to what degree will be manifested, and therefore what and to what degree will attain actual existence.

energy

Clearly there are a number of activities within mind that are not reducible to the principle of desires. Mind, attempting to find its “source” and ascending the levels of its synthesis from concrete manifestation (the body) to personality, and then to the self, discovers that even at the level of the self desires have no unambiguous source, and at the level above — individuality, or presence — that source is impossible to track at all, for presence itself is above the idea of the “I” as such. If mind transcends that level as well and enters pure potentiality, non‑dual “thusness,” the roots of desires are irretrievably lost.

We imagine that if we only “find ourselves,” everything will immediately become wonderful, all contradictions and obstacles will fall, and full perfection will arrive. But what we thus “find” is only potential, only a possibility, a field of probabilities. And for it to become actual — one must not merely “find” oneself, one must build oneself. In this sense the well-known phrase acquires particular importance: “The Way arises under the feet of the one who walks.” In the ocean of desires, the milieu that constitutes the “foundation” of manifestation, impulses constantly and continuously arise, impulses born of preceding events, just as particle–antiparticle pairs are constantly born and annihilated in the vacuum. The energy of these impulses can vary, depending, again, on the causes that produced them, and in some cases their realization is unavoidable (or their suppression will lead to serious imbalances), while in others they may be left relatively painlessly in the “virtual” reality and dissolved there. The function of selecting which desires are to be realized is performed by the “personality” — the temporarily dominant conglomerate of volitional impulses in the mind that arose from prior realizations and which, in fact, seeks to assert its reality. Being itself a “product” of realization, personality may be more or less destructive, more or less long‑lived and more or less constant. Nevertheless, feeling the “breath” of potential perfection is, in effect, the spirit Orlög; personality can carry out an evolutionary selection of desires to be realized, and thus both steer the development of the mind itself and transform itself.

mind

Not being an “agent” in the full sense of the word but a product of actions, clinging to its own temporary, illusory existence, personality nonetheless can, by virtue of its awareness, take the Way of self‑destruction, a self‑transformation from tyrant — attempting to hold the “throne” of mind — into a mode or process that actualizes reality. It is important to understand that the construction of any personality, regardless of its level of constructiveness or its correspondence to individuality, requires the same efforts, the same amount of energy. However, by relating to oneself as a product, the result of prior actions, one can free oneself from clinging to goals and outcomes of current realizations, from expectations and hopes, clear one’s mind, recognizing oneself not as an object but as a process that can (and sometimes must) be redirected and transformed. This recognition yields two results: on the one hand, it substantially reduces discontent and suffering, since it becomes obvious that we are the product of our own actions — not of feelings, not of “states,” but of actions; on the other hand, it enables movement toward expansion and harmonization of the actualized mind, because it fosters a responsible attitude toward the choice of impulses to be realized. The way to alter the manifestation of the mind lies in changing actions. We are real to the extent that — and in those respects — will manifests, acting as the instrument and cause of reality. Understanding this, and controlling realizations, is therefore the Magus’s key task on his way to becoming.

  1. Such realization can extract anything. Even the moon from the sky, or a person with specified qualities, an unlimited amount of money, and even certain things regarding health can be done. But for example, the ability to love does not increase. You do not change yourself.

  2. As ‘virtual boiling of vacuum’
so too ‘pairs of particles and antiparticles are constantly born and annihilate in vacuum’ – this is a supposition and fantasies of people, written on paper, whereas in nature, there might not be such a thing, but what is likely there is subtle matter – ether/akasha – the building material for matter, and probably, there are no limits to depth breaking, and the ether/akasha has its own building material that goes infinitely deep,

What is interesting is, what is the building material for Spirit/information? The fact that matter is a carrier does not mean that it is also the building material,

If there is Body – a carrier of properties (in terms of mass, form, size, speed and direction of motion, current location among other Bodies), but there are no separate properties without a carrier, just as probably there are no separate Bodies without properties, how does Spirit weave into this picture? As a part of Body – its property?

    • It is completely unimportant what ‘is’ in nature and what ‘is not,’ what is ‘fantasy’ for whom, and what is ‘reality’ for whom. What matters is only who and how can use one or another system of description, one or another Myth to make their own consciousness more harmonious, effective, to cease suffering and become creative. Any picture, any description is true to the extent that it helps development and false to the extent that it increases dissatisfaction.
The Spirit in the system of description accepted in the Myth considered here is ‘essence,’ the property of properties, the actual manifestation of the Logos of any system: https://en.enmerkar.com/myth/puteshestvie-duxa.
In this sense, spirit is not a substance, not ‘matter,’ but – ‘degree of correspondence,’ internal reference point, a vector, indicating how much the development of any system happens according to its internal logic, its Logos, how harmonious the flows, impulses created by this system are for it.

      • In this case (of the Myth described here), Spirit is a property of the Soul, right?

      • Then why does the Thought of Humanity constantly delve deeper and analyze reality and Nature, if it is enough to simply stop at a mundane level: ‘here it is before us, and that is enough’ (for example, to return to the thought when there was no knowledge of particles/molecules/organs), to stop suffering – why does the Myth examined here use a system of description from modern physics, in which there are so many blank spots, dead ends, and misconceptions, that the process of knowledge will always be endless (which means always will suffer and seek deeper and deeper, there is no bottom), and specifically ‘boiling of virtual vacuum – matter and antimatter’ – this thought has a very simple inconsistency with previous knowledge about Nature, namely, virtuality has no mass – such a property is absent in this concept (equated to 0), but at the same time it is assumed that real mass/matter/substance is born from there, which contradicts the Law of Conservation (that something cannot be obtained from nothing, just as something cannot be turned into nothing, you can only recombine the constituent parts – swap them, disassemble into building material or assemble a new construction/body from the building material; this is the only possibility of the Material World)
By the word Spirit, I meant Soul (according to the Myth described here – according to that article) – specifically a concrete substance. So, since in another Myth – modern physics – Body has constituent parts (macro-bodies consist of micro-bodies), and by the law ‘as above, so below’, it can be presumed that Soul also has a composition, just as the opposite perspective – the Soul of each is a part of the unified Soul of a higher order entity, is that so in the Myth described here?

        • The Myth speaks the language understandable to the time. But it is dubious to assert that the development of consciousness has become more successful with the development of science. The ways of knowing the world change, the ways of the consciousness’s action change, but the very success, the effectiveness of the development of consciousness always depends only on itself. Science, the knowledge of the world are natural and logical stages of change and expansion of the picture of the world, and therefore – increasing the number of ways in which consciousness can act in this world, knowing this world and itself in this world. The acting consciousness, the consciousness of a magician, certainly strives to understand the world in which it finds itself, strives to explain it and create acting and fruitful pictures. But it must not fall into the captivity of these pictures, it must not get stuck in them, realizing that they are a tool, not a goal.

        • “Then why does the Thought of Humanity constantly delve deeper and analyze reality and Nature if it is enough to stop at a mundane level: ‘here it is before us and that is enough'” – the ancient Chinese dispute 🙂 Much has been written on this topic; I recommend a brief summary by Pelevin http://pelevin.nov.ru/rass/pe-zapis/1.html, perhaps it will be useful.

          • “So how to say even a word about that which has never become anything?” – Why speak? – Listen – Listen to the song of the wind together with the one to whom you want to say it.. – ..on the same wave..

  3. The expansion and harmonization of the actual consciousness – this is also a Goal, although it is not the one that can be finally achieved once and for all. The approach to achieving it happens asymptotically, reducing the distance to infinity 🙂

    • The expansion and harmonization of awareness is just an attempt to describe motion, an attempt to systematize and order it.

  4. Greetings.
A couple of weeks ago, I contemplated this.
    I’ll share my thoughts:
We strive for wisdom, seeking it, considering it something outstanding and special. This may initially satisfy our vanity, but then we understand that it is an action of directions, it does not depend on us, we are only an expression of destiny. But there is no destiny. Destiny is only a memory of the movement of energies.
Then we are struck by the revelation that destiny and all directions are us, the appearance of our consciousness, and the generation of forces is the action of our mind, morals, concepts that we define for ourselves.
And here arises the understanding and simultaneous question: what next? Here, several thousand years have passed, and you suddenly realize that there is neither a beginning nor an end to wisdom, and all Wisdom is within you. All wisdom is an endless transformation from the past to the future. From striving and change to the present reality. And there is no past, there is no future, there is only the existing reality.

  5. The needed door behind which milk rivers and jelly banks lie is in a specific sector. One cannot be a hardened atheist in Catholicism. Therefore, the search for the door and, accordingly, the search for the road/path should preferably be conducted in the corresponding sector if, of course, there is a meaning in searching for a door.

  6. This is why I used to shy away from Buddhism. Pelevin, for example, calls himself a Buddhist. And this is the same kind of untruth. Everything real includes the understanding of all, both my past self and my present self, and everyone with whom I currently do not understand. And everyone there fits well, conveniently, and no one is worse off. But what is such Buddhism? What is that? Denying oneself, the past, and even does not leave a place for oneself. Declaring oneself in the past an idiot, and that is exactly what happens; bouncing off past worldviews, nothing new will definitely occur.

    • I could not identify in my message the context about Buddhism. Buddhism accelerates consciousness – its basis is to think quickly and know a lot, and knowing everything to think that everything is understood – word about word about word.
Everything is good in everything, but localization sets part of the sector overall. And searching for something that does not exist in a specific – local – sector is a process within itself, especially if that is so little that it is approaching zero. So, searching for sunlight at night in a mine is an interesting process in itself, especially without being tied to the result itself, even with eyes covered. And the better you dig, the more you enter the speed of digging process, rather than actual searching – feedback gets lost.
Is there love in the worlds of magic, or do people bring it from other sectors, living partially in both? It is enough to observe carefully whether love increases from residing in this sector or decreases.

  7. What can I say) that Buddhism, from which I shied away, truly plays with the mind. But I would not define anything for anyone now. Any teaching is false when looked at from the outside, due to the observer’s lack of experience. It is possible to argue for a long time about love and who has more. This is also the word about words, my love, your love, and Pelevin’s – this is different. And if we also apply magicians and sectors. This comment of mine, I would probably call a child’s cry) I was considering for myself the criteria of truth, and almost for the first time I formulated that it must fit everyone. If you scold the matrix bots, Pelevin, Buddhism, then you need to find what you did wrong. And these words too are said – retold… knowing and being aware are indeed different. In this case, I obtained this awareness here, and I was surprised and recorded it. You can perceive it as a rock painting or something like that. Fixation, densification, voicing aloud and catching one thought by the tail. This has no personal relation to anyone.
