Leviathan and Rahab

Although many cultures and traditions describe the forces of chaos that oppose Creation in the guise of the World Serpent, each emphasizes certain aspects of this universal inertial force and highlights some characteristic features.

In particular, the biblical image of Leviathan (Gr. Λεβιάϑαν, from Heb. לִוְיָתָן — “twisted, coiled”) primarily depicts the constraining, “strangling” aspect of the Serpent.

In this sense, Leviathan is an aspect of the Abyss resisting the cosmos, a destructive, more precisely, annihilating, de-structuring face of the “shadow” of the sephira Binah — Satariel.

oriented toward freedom of expression, the Magical tradition also often pays special attention to this aspect; for example, the “Book of Abramelin” mentions Leviathan as one of the four primary forces of opposition (along with Satan, Lucifer, and Belial). In this sense, the “Four Great Ones” represent four aspects of ignorance —  lie (Satan), isolation (Lucifer), gullibility (Belial), and resistance to development (Leviathan).

In other words, Leviathan is the inertial aspect in its “bullheadedness,” contradiction, and stubborn resistance to growth; it is not merely “passivity,” it is stubbornness that insists it’s right, unwilling to listen and see, dullness that raises itself into a cult.

At the same time, the tradition distinguishes the “macrocosmic” aspect of this force — Leviathan proper — as “deep inertia” and “viscosity” that obstructs the flow of energy, and its psychocosmic aspect, called “Rahab” (Anc. Heb. ‏רַהַב‏‎ “oppressor”; Gr. Ραάβ/Ραχάβ). This word in biblical texts is applied to many “opponents of order,” who manifest their resistance in the form of an unbridled, chaos-inducing attack. Raav (Heb. רָחָב‎, “spacious place”) is also one of the Hebrew terms denoting the Abyss, and it implies the “devouring” aspect of the Chasm, its influence that draws into nonexistence.

Thus, Leviathan is one of the aspects of the Power of the Chasm, one of the manifestations of the Blind Creator, and therefore it is not a “demon” in the proper sense of the word, not an independent “predator”; rather, the loss of energy that occurs under its influence happens at the expense of “de-cosmization,” the disordering of being and mind.

A mind that has fallen under the influence of Rahab does not merely fail to see its limitations; it meets any indication of those limitations with hostility; it does not merely refuse to develop — it despises anyone who acts, moves forward, or makes any progress. At the same time, the influence of the Chasm is strongly chaotic and uncontrollable; arguments cannot reach such a mind, it will not even try to broaden its view or think critically; its own limitation, its own darkness — that’s all it rests on, and it is ready to defend this “value” with all the fury of a chthonic impulse.

Nevertheless, since the inhabitants of the Interval need energy, and the Demon of the Chasm patronizes them, the carriers of the Rahab matrix are less prone to self-destruction than one might expect; on the contrary, they are extremely destructive, toxic to their surroundings, while at the same time quite attentive to their bodily needs: they like to eat (often also to drink), are disinclined to work, and are producers of fodder for low-level pneuma.

Such people are of little interest even to demons; they are firmly rooted in the reality they destroy and poison, resisting reason and harmony with all their might.

Toxic dissatisfaction, laziness, and displeasure with the vibrancy of life are the first sign of Rahab’s invasion into the psyche. As soon as we feel that the world is “too bright,” “too loud,” or “too free,” poison has entered the mind.

Accordingly, opposing Leviathan is the cultivation of the mind’s “free breathing,” the development of a broader perspective, respect for the diversity of the world, and the striving for mental development. Essentially, all that is needed to oppose this kind of destruction is simply to be alive in the full sense of the word: to be an actively aware person, loving the world and life, and seeing the world with open eyes.

  1. ‘To be alive’ in the full sense of this word? Well then, describe the state of the world in its current phase. Do you feel a halt in time? And the departure of the forces of this world? And the deadlock of the system? And the decrease in awareness and perception among the locals? But yes… Life is beautiful.

    • The world is made up of many different states. Each person will describe it according to their own perspective.
I was thinking. For example, if we were to ask Ukrainians, some would respond that we are currently in a state of grief and catastrophe, others would say we are in a state of indomitable will for freedom, and still others would say we are in a state of cruel vengeance against the enemy. All of this is one world, but different states. So, which state would you like me to describe the world in?

  2. What could be effective support for other people carrying this matrix? Is it enough to be an actively conscious being oneself, just leaving the door open?

    • The question of helping others overcome destruction is always very complex and very delicate. It is important to help in such a way that does not make things worse, does not limit freedom, but at the same time – reduces suffering. So, it’s unlikely there can be a universal recipe here. It is important to be alive, creative, and empathetic oneself to timely respond to the state of others. How to participate in it depends on too many factors, which everyone will have to consider at their own responsibility.

    • In my opinion, the most effective way would be to help shed light, to assist in gaining awareness, and provide a tool or resource through which a person can learn to cope with their distortions themselves. However, as Enmerkar wrote above, I agree that the cases are so varied that a single approach cannot apply to everyone. To help people, one must have a pure intention and the appropriate qualifications. And/or a direct connection with higher hierarchies that work through an operator. Life already helps by providing answers, people, situations, and experiences. To consciously influence, in my opinion, one must have mastered the corresponding skill or ability. Yes, to avoid causing harm. And to ensure that help is balanced and beneficial.

In my opinion, in my opinion.

  3. Azrathorn, if you are sufficiently conscious, you can only observe the sunset of what is called the human race, feeling and recalling the remnants of its former ‘greatness’.

  4. Although the greatness is long gone, what remains is a sunset lasting a couple thousand years. And the fact that was brought into this world by a foreign race (17th century of our era) when there was a surge of science, art, and philosophy doesn’t count. This race is not our friends now. They once presented me a paper demanding to leave 200k people in this world. The rest for sustenance and as servants. How do you feel about that? Do you want it? But yes, life is happiness.

    • You are right that this world is dying – many have already noticed it. Its radiance is fading, just as the radiance in people is fading. And so far it manages to stay afloat largely due to the gradual replacement of this waning inner radiance with advanced technological crutches brought here by some other, non-human forces. It’s funny that this substitution of the living for the dead is still being passed off as progress and development. But you wrongly accuse the Renaissance – it was a time when someone genuinely attempted to breathe a portion of living fire into humanity and helped to throw off the old rusty shackles holding people’s minds captive. But then, around the 18th century, something very bad happened, entering more into the realm of investigating alternative history. The greatest surge of spirit that began awakening in people was universally crushed and extinguished.

    • True greatness is still ahead. Humanity, with all its chakra centers, inherent potentials, and abilities, has yet to fully realize itself. Although some individuals have achieved this even within the current context. In fact, there are now more such people than in the 17th century, thanks to the work of many bright, strong souls. Now, at dawn, these rays do not shine as brightly as the holy fathers did in ancient times. This is because their light is more scattered, and in the dawn’s rays, this light blends together.

Alternative spaces exist in this multidimensional universe not further than 10 centimeters from your nose. By choosing to intensify colors within a specific palette, you move into the corresponding subspace and become established within it. I won’t say that this is a cunning trap; I would rather say that it is your choice within the realm of free will. The trap, perhaps, is the belief that this chosen reality is linear, a closed system, rather than a vector, a separate branch of a branching reality.

The longer you confine yourself to such a branch, the narrower your outlook becomes, and the smaller the spectrum of available states and potential possibilities.

      Imho.
