Elementaries — “empty spirits” of the Interworld
Heterogeneous in composition, meaning, and energetic structure, the space between worlds — the Elements — lacks stable laws of existence, and its inhabitants, both “native” and “non-native”, are agents of change.
Therefore all beings dwelling in this space must find anchor points to maintain their constancy within one of the established worlds.
Accordingly, Elementals rely on elements of the physical world, Elementers — on parts of their physical bodies, and Elementaries can sustain themselves only by entering minds of embodied beings.
Traditions debate the origin of the “aborigines” of the Interworld — Elementaries.
Some consider them ” grey ” spirits that have crossed the Threshold, others — disembodied spirits adapted to the Interworld, and still others — outright Qliphothic demons that have emerged from Sheol.
It is evident that many Elementaries are Fairies adapted to the Interworld, having lost connection with “earthly” sources of energy and become predatory.
Most likely, all these variants may occur: since the Interworld itself is heterogeneous, creatures of various natures assimilated by this mutable medium acquire shared characteristics.
There are two key characteristics.
Firstly, Elementaries lack a stable form and are a conglomerate of heterogeneous energies, appearing to a visionary as composed of disparate parts (animal, human, plant, mineral, and generally inexplicable), yet united by a faint unifying thread.
Secondly, these spirits, having fallen from the Great Flow of Power, are empty — that is, possess no energy of their own — and sustain themselves only through predation, parasitism, and feeding on carrion. Indeed, the “heterogeneity” of their form is explained by the fact that they incorporate disparate energies and, lacking the power to assimilate them, merely “sew” them together.

Unlike Elementers, who retain residual memory of their origin and a degree of directed activity, Elementaries lack a stable mental state, being, in essence, “bare” impulses to consume — a “vacuum” drawing in every scrap of available energy.
Nevertheless, many of them are highly inventive in satisfying their hunger, and even use their “plasticity” to mask themselves and pose as someone useful to beings capable of providing energy. Picking up the remnants of others’ energies, Elementaries also adopt certain behavior patterns, words, and phrases characteristic of the bearers of that energy, becoming a more or less artful composite, a “collage” that may appear to an inexperienced eye as beautiful or even wise.
A considerable portion of “shamanic” spirits, as well as “Masters of dreaming” and the “subtle planes”, upon closer inspection are such quasi-conscious imitators, striving only to satisfy their hunger.
It is clear that since Elementaries lack any kind of stability, they are of little interest to Magi, and are significant only as a “disruptive” element — one of the dangers that await the mind on its Way of development.
Thus, Traditions probably lack a doctrine concerning these entities, no clear classification or systematization, and all recommendations for interacting with them reduce to detecting, beneath a plausible mask, the predatory, semi-unconscious hunger.
However, the real situation at present is that the Threshold is thinning, and the number of beings entering our world is constantly and inexorably increasing. In this process, it is precisely Elementaries who become a significant component of this invasion, for they are the most adaptable to any conditions, the best suited to survive, and driven only to satisfy their hunger.
Therefore, perhaps, the time has come for Magi to study these creatures, their peculiarities and weaknesses, so as to protect both themselves and their habitat, their sphere of activity, from this still little-understood threat.

I noticed a feature that recently mass groups are emerging “in the style” of the Cult of the Ancients. Based on a Lovecraftian foundation, groups go further, establishing contacts with increasingly diverse entities, the commonality of which is an inclination towards chaos. Working with the Space of Dreams in such groups is a mandatory condition. All this seems very similar to contacts with Fomorians and Elementaries. Apparently, this is one of the important fronts of the inhabitants of the Interworld’s assault in attempts to breach the stability of our world? By the way, concerning the use of sacrifices in rituals with “gray spirits” starting from alcoholic drinks to animal blood (sometimes even further) – apparently these spirits and other inhabitants of the Interworld are able to extract energy from these components somehow? Or can they only feed on the life energy of the operator, and these “offerings” are just, so to speak, for diversion?
As long as magic exists, so do sacrifices. One shouldn’t indiscriminately apply the same brush to every sacrificial ritual. Although your assumptions/observations certainly have real ground. Learning to distinguish the Wheat from the Chaff cannot be described in just two words.
The question was not about any ritual. The meaning of Sacrifice in a Magical Ritual is beautifully described here https://en.enmerkar.com/myth/ritual-vosem-shagov-realizacii. I’m concerned about the topic of interaction with ‘gray spirits’ and elementals. My first significant experience in realizations came precisely through rituals with ‘gray’ ones. I am ready to stop my experiments if they are too harmful to the world, but it would be more correct to figure out what is happening and how. Therefore, I am grateful to Enmerkar for any clarification on this topic.
A bloody sacrifice always gives a significant burst of energy. Usually, in evocations, this burst is used for the materialization of the summoned entity. In the case of Interworld transitions – this power is used to facilitate crossing the Border. In any case, the main problem in any evocative Ritual is not how to summon a spirit/entity, but how to send it back afterwards.
The magician, by many of his actions, disrupts the Order in the World. Any ‘Summoning’ of someone is already an interference with Balance/harmony. Yes, practically any action disrupts the established Order… be it Healing, Divination, etc. Ultimately, this also applies to actions aimed at changing oneself. How to act correctly is decided by each one for themselves… the key words in this case are: ‘Measure’ and ‘Conscience’. Well, whatever your Measure is… and whoever your Conscience consults with – here it varies from person to person 🙂 But, since you are troubled by the question of the harm/danger of ‘Summoning magic’, it means that your Measure is not bad.
The desires of the majority of humanoids are not corrected, i.e., they are non-human. These ideas of desire are non-human, instigated by Elementaries. The idea becomes realized, the desire is fulfilled, non-Earthly pleasure is obtained. The recipient of the pleasure has to pay for the idea. An unbalanced, i.e., non-Earth wish that has been fulfilled is already a breach in the stability of the world. As a rule, groups of psychonauts are regular clients of extraterrestrial ideas, this is their drug. Well, these groups cannot derive pleasure from Earthly desires. And it is not possible to buy this pleasure with money, hence the financial crisis, be so kind to receive it. Extraterrestrial ecology. As a rule, the operator receives a drug and to nourish gives away someone’s earthly consciousness. An operator interacting with Elementaries is like a drug addict; treatment is possible but unlikely. Therefore, he is at the top of the pyramid feeding the Elementaries. Everything that does not correspond to the analogy of consumption in nature extracts energy from this, and who and how, this needs to be researched.
I recently saw something like that. In a dream. Some kind of mix between a human and an owl. The creature was about waist-height to me. It did not show any hostile actions towards me; quite the opposite. It proceeded to give a beating to a guy with whom I have, let’s say, not very good relations in this world, using moves from Eastern martial arts. There was certainly no force in this event – my adversary is alive and well. Although, I do not exclude that perhaps the morning after that night when I saw this dream, he had a headache or something along those lines.))) When I was about three years old, I found myself in a state of quite a conscious dream. In this dream, I rose up on the bed and saw a shadow flash in a beam of moonlight. Moments later, I saw a certain dark creature sitting on my chest. Most of all, it resembled a talking stump with eyes, a mouth, and a nose. It seemed that fangs were protruding from its mouth. Below was something resembling roots. The top of its head/body was rounded, like a regular head. In a word, it can be described as a talking stump of bell-like shape. The creature said something to me, did not show any particular aggression, and then disappeared.
2Enmerkar: In short, if some unfortunate operator starts summoning, for example, Asmodeus, say, to evoke a response passion in some individual, and sacrifices an entire bull, then that operator can only be sympathized with)))
Naivety, ignorance, and carelessness are the deadly enemies of the Seeker. Naivety leads one to believe that anyone with wings (or little wings) is an Angel, anyone with a halo is a Saint, and anyone on a Throne is God. Ignorance strips one of the ability to verify if someone is truly who they claim to be. Carelessness fosters hope for a Russian ‘avось’ (which roughly translates to ‘maybe’ or ‘perhaps’).
A slight lyrical digression. It seems to me that certain situations in this world give a specific representation of the Interworld – such situations where what was is no longer, and what is to come has not yet receded. If the Moscow Rus of the Rurikovichs and the Russian Empire of the Romanov family are two different worlds, then the Time of Troubles is the Interworld. If the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union are two Worlds, then the Interworld is the period of Revolution, the Dictatorship of the Proletariat, the Red Terror, and the Civil War. If the Soviet Union and what exists now in its former territory are two Worlds, then the Interworld is the Perestroika and the Wild 90s. In this regard, a person is evidently most vulnerable to the Interworld in the crisis periods of their life. For example, during the Midlife Crisis. When the Midlife Crisis has passed, and a person has resigned themselves to the fact that they will not fly into space, will not discover the sixth continent, will not invent a perpetual motion machine, has resigned themselves to the fact that their married relationship, which began with love and passion, has turned into boring nonsense, has resigned themselves to the fact that their children have long been living their own lives, has resigned themselves to the fact that all the main events in their life have passed, and they are left with only the joys – to go out through the checkpoint, drink 150 grams, and spend the weekends sitting at a table in the yard playing dominoes, then this, although uninviting, is a stable state. But when a person has not yet come to this state, their condition is tense and unstable. Some fall into alcoholism. Some take out a loan against their apartment to buy a motorcycle they dreamed of in their youth, some start dressing like an 18-year-old, hanging out with their son’s friends, and flirting with young ladies from their company, some delve into officially normative religion, spending day and night in a ‘Chicken Coop’, and believing in a World Conspiracy, some join some marginal sect (to various Baptists-charismatics, (false) Jehovah’s Witnesses, Vissarionites, and others). Some even reach suicide. All these inadequate actions seem to be nothing more than searches for a point of support. Some find a point of support, for example, in the past. And thus become individuals completely mired in bourgeoisie, but living on memories of a turbulent student youth. However, a person who has not found their point of support may even resort to suicide. In other words, they go into the Interworld by the shortest path. In general, it seems that a person becomes vulnerable to the Interworld not only during global crises in their life (which everyone experiences in one world or another – the Midlife Crisis probably passes most painlessly for those who have somewhere to develop at that moment – say, for a general who still has a chance to become a marshal, for a workshop manager aiming to become a plant director, for an archimandrite who has the chance to become a bishop, for a professor who is in the spotlight of becoming an academician, for a businessman who is in the process of continuously expanding their business). Any situation resulting in Cognitive Dissonance has some relation to the Interworld.
It seems to me that, in general, the Interworld begins to tread on a person’s heels whenever they, in one way or another, lose their point of support. I expressed the opinion in a previous post that the Midlife Crisis passes painlessly for those who are in a state of progressive development in some sphere, be it science (associate professor, professor, corresponding member, full member, and further on an international level), be it the army (from private to marshal), be it production (master, workshop manager, chief engineer, plant director, minister), church (hieromonk, igumen, archimandrite, archbishop, metropolitan, patriarch), business, or anything else. In this case, the point of support is the corresponding sphere and development within it. When the point of support is lost for some reason, then the Interworld is right there. And everything, in the most severe case, can end in one or another form of capitulation to the Interworld. For example, going into it the shortest way (suicide. Essentially, any thought of suicide is a Call of the Interworld. The Interworld seems to say: ‘Is it hard for you? Then come into my embrace! Become my inhabitant!’), or the Interworld directly invades the psyche of a person still during their life (in other words, the person simply loses their mind).
2Maxim: Personally, I have not worked with Lovecraftian entities, I cannot say anything from my side, but, according to one person close to high-ranking members of Ordo Templi Orientis Antiqua (not to be confused with our Order; this organization was formed from the branches of O.T.O. that did not enter the Crowleyan O.T.O. at the time and is currently headed by Michael Berthier), an organization that practices, among other things, Qliphothic Magic, Lovecraftian entities are related not to the Interworld, but to the Qliphoth and the deepest layers of the Subconscious. However, I am not sure that those who claim to have experience in Qliphothic Magic actually go any further than the Interworld.
Representatives of the community known as ‘Dream Hackers’, positioning themselves as Chaos Mages, actively practice Lucid Dreaming, relying on the works of Carlos Castaneda, Kenneth Grant, etc. http://pavlogradhs.ucoz.ru/forum/11-259-1 They correlate the Dream Space with the Tunnels of Set – according to Kenneth Grant, the reverse side of the Paths of the Tree of Life. However, again, I cannot guarantee that in their experiments, they are truly not dealing with the Interworld and do not go beyond it.
It seems that nothing other than the Visionary’s Sense of Self-Importance makes him perceive the entity he contacts as something that it does not actually represent and to think of it as an Archangel or God (or conversely, an Archdemon of anti-cosmic scale), and the Sense of Self-Importance does not allow him to recognize that this is a regular, ordinary spirit – elemental, ‘gray’, or even completely empty. Here the spirit benefits from the visionary considering it to be something more significant than it actually is. And the visionary wants to consider the spirit to be more significant than it actually is. In short, spirits deceive those who wish to be deceived. If you can’t deceive yourself – no one will deceive you.
Yet, the Interworld is essentially the same as Bardo in the Tibetan description. At least, the second and third Bardos.
Hello! If possible, please give a practical piece of advice, something related to the topic. How to rid the house of predatory spirits? I just don’t know if it is, but the third picture coincided remarkably (a dark, smoky creature with red eyes, as if out from under a hood), the whole problem is that sometimes after practices (rituals of a fiery visionary orientation (not calls)) something similar comes and headaches begin (sometimes immediately for my relatives), and recently objects spontaneously fall or move (only near me) and this is starting to scare me. Please advise a way to stop such attacks.
1. “However, the real situation of our current time is such that the Border is thinning, and the number of beings striving for our world is constantly and steadily increasing.” There are too many people now “dealing with magic,” maybe the Abrahamic religions are right in forbidding it? The culling of souls on the magical path is so great, and those who have “passed”… there are no guarantees that they actually have.
2. “Lovecraftian entities” have no connection to the tree of worlds, both klippot and sephiroth. Our patriarchal cosmos is just a small bubble-prison, one of many in the waters of chaos. But it is quite possible that elemental beings often “curse” as Ancients, as they are now in demand.
Aren’t elementals something intrapsychically destructive?
For example, if a girl falls in love with a man and instead of going for direct contact, she ‘wears’ his appearance onto her internal image of the ideal man, which is a psychological compensation, i.e., something that satisfies her psychological needs. And she seriously interacts with this figure in her head, convincing herself that she has a telepathic connection with him through the 4th dimension.
I see this as a drain of her personal energy into something that does not promote her development, but rather risks leading to degradation. What is this ‘something’ that sits in her energy?
Enmerkar, thank you for the wonderful article. Answers come when they are truly needed. There is indeed very little information about the inhabitants of the Between-Worlds… but still, maybe there is some work (bestiary) describing the most stable forms of these beings. I understand that they can take different forms but there is also a main one. I want to study them more thoroughly to understand how to protect myself or interact mutually beneficially (if possible). I have encountered some of them and observed their hunt… there was no fear or hatred towards them; they have the right to exist just like any other beings. I saw how they change their form when the observer recognizes the false image, and I saw their hunger. I noted for myself that some beings are social as they can gather in groups for successful hunts. If anyone in the forum has knowledge and experience on this matter, please share. Knowledge and clarity of thought will help avoid falls and loss of strength. Thank you.
Good day, my friend committed suicide. Will he become an elemental, or is it not necessary? What will happen to his soul?
Hello.
It’s hard to say definitively here, it all depends on the state in which the death occurred. If it was accompanied by strong emotion, fear, or despair – yes, probably, such consciousness will be stuck in the Interstice for some time until it exhausts that impulse.
If, however, the action was done out of cold calculation, then most likely, such consciousness will be reborn again to go through that lesson/fulfillment of that karma from which it tried to escape.
Hello! Is rebirth possible in demonic worlds in such a case?
Strictly speaking, only Klippoth can be called ‘demonic’ worlds, however, this is not a habitat for beings, but a form of pure attractiveness manifestation. However, birth is possible in the Worlds of Retribution, which, in general, is not entirely correct to call ‘demonic’, although the beings residing there often exhibit malicious and predatory natures.
