Surveillance and Tracking
Since the Magus is, above all, a hunter of opportunities, one of the most important skills a successful Magus must have is the ability to observe, the attentiveness and alertness required to avoid missing opportunities for a breakthrough and to detect a destructive element in time.
In this respect, the training of the Magus’s mind is largely about developing attentiveness and an analytical gaze that constantly scans the psycho- and macrocosm for new opportunities and potential obstacles.
The Magus learns to identify himself and to map his surroundings, and thus to build his Myth — his own system of descriptions and classifications that establishes relations between different elements of the psycho- and macrocosm and thereby allows him to anticipate the direction of the currents of power.
For the Magus, on the one hand it is vital to be ready for a new shift in the flow of probabilities, and on the other to notice the activity of predators despite all their efforts at concealment, at the very earliest stages of influence.
Of course, such attentiveness demands great effort and tension, yet it is the essential prerequisite for effective development.
It is not hard to see that the Magus’s attentiveness consists of two states: the state of monitoring — the basic checking of his own state and the environment to assess whether their currents are stable — and the state of tracking — actively following a “power-bearing” current. The Magus strives to keep his mind from wandering; he tries not to become distracted; he is sensitive to himself and the environment, constantly exploring the psyche and macrocosm and recording existing interaction systems there.
Since the sole criterion of reality is the capacity for interaction, the Magus investigates his own reactions and those of the environment to ongoing processes, and assesses changes in reality by observing changes in those reactions. In other words, upon noticing some alteration in the environment or in the mind, the Magus seeks to determine its nature, its source, and thereby trace possible subsequent chains of events.
Thus, as soon as the mind notices some change, it shifts from the state of monitoring to the state of tracking; from the stance of “lying in ambush” the hunter moves into the stance of “pursuit“.
Again: it does not matter whether the tracking targets “positive” factors — opportunities and sources of power — or whether it is a hunt for destructive agents, a search for and following of “bugs,” malfunctions and breakdowns in the operation of the mind — the strategy itself remains the same. Indeed, the very word “tracking” accurately captures the essence of this action — the discovery of “tracks,” that is, any evidence of activity by a novel factor, and the movement along those tracks toward their source.
Moving step by step, the mind must analyze the signs of interaction shown by the tracked factor in various familiar objects and processes, and from the character of these interactions determine its qualities and properties. At the same time, neither a purely “intuitive” understanding, an instinct for opportunities or destructive agents, nor purely analytical thought is sufficient — each of these faculties alone can be deceived; a combination of holistic perception and analytical activity is required.
Just as a “chance” is preceded by a “sign,” that is, by a certain preceding event, the “sign” itself can in turn be regarded as a “chance to get a chance,” and therefore it is preceded by a “sign of an approaching sign,” and so on. The earlier this chain of events is detected, the greater the probability of successfully following it, of seizing and using the opportunity.
Similarly, a destructive action is preceded by a destructive impulse, which stems from earlier destructive changes, and so on — and again, the earlier the “trail” of this chain is detected, the greater the chance of eliminating it.
That is precisely why for the Magus there are no “small things“; he is attentive to any change, and always ready to move from monitoring to tracking.

A person has everything to be a mage. Although I do not fully understand what it is, but sitting in anticipation of something for most of the time, I notice how I am drawn into a process that I like and once desired. That is, a previously triggered trigger worked. And here I am in the event.., And it’s no longer me rushing towards the goal, the world spins around. At such a moment, I manage to summon a spirit, and it becomes interested in helping. The goal is set, the chain of events slips away like a sequence… Intuitive magic?
Um.. the world needs mages. Those who can work with energies, heal, deal with issues with powers, magical beings, raising the PSI of consciousness of beings and this world as a whole, and ultimately preventing cataclysms and degradation as a whole.
And what makes you think that the world needs mages? Does the “World” have that individual Self-consciousness that made the decision that it needs someone after all, and……. does the “World” communicate its decision to special people in secret?
The main task of mages is to maintain balance.
Does the world have self-consciousness? Of course, it does. Or do you think this world appeared by itself? No. It has a Creator.

And here you are right, mages of our school do indeed gain access to information that is not allowed for dissemination.

Do you understand, Tavita, what I’m getting at? These words are not Human. These words are from the Force. Those who look at the world now and with each passing day their hope for improvement in the state of the world melts like snow in the palm of your hand.
As for why I think the world needs mages… Yes, indeed. It seems to me that it is already late. Although the point of no return has not yet been crossed.
The higher powers control all global processes occurring on Earth. Isn’t it with their knowledge, and not with their consent, that we are leading ourselves to the next Apocalypse? Everything is by plan, everything – according to the Program…
