Neglect of the Way

Although the notion of the Way as the most effective means of realizing the Monad’s potentials in the current incarnation is one of the cornerstones of all magical schools and currents, and the importance and necessity of adhering to it are broadly speaking beyond doubt, all too often is ignored the idea of the inexorability of that adherence, with the result that a destructor arises — a more or less tacit retreat from the Way’s inexorable logic.

Practical neglect of the Way is the destructor aimed at Magi — neglect of happiness — one of the common means by which predators and parasites subdue the human spirit.

A person usually strives for happiness, for fullness and harmony only in words: on the one hand, you will scarcely find anyone who will say that they do not want happiness, but on the other hand, people’s will to achieve that harmony is generally extremely weak. A person expends far more effort on career advancement, even on getting tickets to a favorite concert or film, than on taking a single step toward inner comfort and equilibrium. People lose their love, their awareness, and themselves in many cases simply because they do not bother to tell themselves clearly what it is they actually need. Desires are replaced by fancies, and the will — by whims.

Many Magi yield to this destructor: they are silent when Power requires speech, stand when they should run at full speed, and sleep when they should be on watch through the night.

It seems that by sacrificing trifles they do not abandon the “main goal,” but it is precisely in that feeling that the destructor is hidden.

It is precisely when tension eases, precisely when the hunter’s gaze grows dim, that the Magus misses his most important chances.

Therefore one important control point for a Magus should be monitoring the intensity of his striving for Power and freedom at every moment; if he notices that this striving has weakened, then somewhere there is a breach — somewhere he has left a gap and a power leak — and all efforts must be devoted to restoring the flow’s stability.

  1. How can a mage who cannot see track the presence of strength? How can he understand what to do at this moment? In my consciousness, looking at the situation, there are about 10 ways to act, and all of them seem equally useful and also seem equally useless, meaning they can be ignored. How to find a balance between mindlessly reacting to everything around and exhausting oneself and that which leads to development and what the power indicates?

    • Power does not need to be seen. Power is the ability to realize the will. The fewer factors influence the realization of your will, apart from the will itself – the more Power you have.

  2. My consciousness is playing a cruel game with me; when I try to break through, I exhaust myself almost to the maximum, gaining merely 5-10% benefit from these attempts, which are still forgotten when I restore my powers, and I need to repeat the same work again, getting about the same result, thus shifting by millimeters while covering kilometers.

  3. What does it mean by ‘the fewer factors influence the realization of your will’? The fewer distractions?

  4. Will is when you thought you needed this thing, this very thing, and you come to the store, and it’s lying right where you planned. And what does it mean to be sleepless? I mean, I have problems with sleep; I wake up from bright beams hitting my eyes, and pain in my head and hands. But when I set up a protection, everything recedes, and sleep comes; is this how strength enters? Or are they downloading from me?

  5. To be sleepless means not to hesitate to wake up. I have a similar experience with advancing Hihet. I believe this effect arises from a strong drop in tension after gaining benefits from what has been achieved. Such a method of achievement turns into a system for undisciplined practitioners.

  6. Anton: The substance GLUE reflects how better overall. Sometimes NAIL. Operating when, with what, sometimes, or generally how, decides the operator. The principle of ‘Do no harm’ overall… to oneself.
