The Sacred Alphabets

As we said earlier, letters, as units of meaning, lie at the base of most manifestation symbols of both vortex- and vector-oriented.

At the same time, these “elementary symbols” themselves, reflecting the “logostic” component of the universe, can be of different forms; their set (“alphabet”) can be different sizes; and their manifestation potential also differs. Over the course of the existence of the civilization known to us, several alphabetic systems have been developed, distinguished by the highest level of conjugation of the “graphic” and the “logosticcomponents, that is, alphabets whose letters carry a high energetic “charge,” among which three have found especially broad application with magical practices: Sanskrit, Phoenician (and its derivatives, including modern Hebrew), and runic.

As mentioned most known vortex signs — sigils — are primarily built using variations of the Phoenician script, while for vector magic the most suitable turned out to be Runes. Moreover, we noted that from a magical point of view Semitic letters are vortices, and runic signs are vectors.

Thus, despite the apparent similarity of Phoenician and runic writing, and possibly their origin from a single source, the nature of their energy is completely different, which is obviously connected with the peculiarities of the mind of the peoples who developed and honed these systems. At the same time, such a connection is, of course, mutual: on the one hand, symbols that have “bound to” with the corresponding logoi influence the mentality of the carrier peoples, and on the other, the psychological characteristics of people affect the degree and direction of the alignment between symbols and logoi. Therefore, after an early stage of development the Phoenician alphabet turned out to be aligned with the vortex system, and the runic one — with the vector system, their further development proceeded in different planes, increasingly “adapted” to the corresponding logoi.

Apparently, the shift of Semitic scripts into the “vortex” symbolic field also reflects a change in the form of the letters — from the more angular Phoenician ones to the smoother Aramaic ones, and then to the “square” script of Hebrew. Further “rounding” of the letters toward Arabic script was accompanied by a change in the nature of their energies as well, in particular by an increase in the elemental component. At the same time, the sharp angular shape of runic symbols turned out to be the most suitable for alignment with the vector aspect of power. Apparently, the “turning-point” moment that directed the futharks in the “vector” direction was the interaction with ogham that occurred in the early stages of formation, the energies of which anchored the Runes as unidirectional symbols.

So, for example, the most ancient hieroglyph “Bull”,

, gives rise to the Phoenician “Alap”,

, which through the Aramaic Aleph,

, transforms into the “square” א and the Arabic  ا, everywhere expressing the vortex of separating “culture” from “nature,” that is, the primary force of division, repulsion, the confrontation of the teeming life with the desert, of fertility with wastelands.

One could say that the Bull, Aleph, is the vortex of self-being, of the Name Ehyeh, I am (אהיה), the system’s ability to affirm and maintain its existence. Aleph is also the first letter of the Hebrew word emet ( אֶמֶת ‎), truth, expressing the principle of the “objectivity” of existence. This power, at the same time, can be considered two vectorsself-determination and self-affirmation, and therefore on the vector level is expressed by two Runes Fehu (ᚠ) and Uruz (ᚢ), dividing the concept of “bull” into “domesticated” and “wild” components, where Fehu means “repelling wildness,” and Uruz — “repelling domestication.”

The study of the semantic fields of sacred alphabets thus provides a key to understanding the forces standing behind them, which, in turn, is the basis for working with these forces. The more levels of meaning a researcher can find in the elementary vortices and vectors expressed in letters and symbols, the more successful will be their understanding of the world and themselves.
