Magical Squares as Sigils

We have repeatedly noted that among the various tools of Graphical Magic, a special place is occupied by the so‑called «Magical Squares» — special alphanumeric matrices capable of altering the course of processes in the world.
We have also said that there are two primary mechanisms for such activity of the Squares — the «psychological» and the «energetic», where the first depends on the operator’s mind, and the second requires only the operator’s presence.

The first mechanism is relatively straightforward — the mind is «anchored» in the square’s matrix, adjusting its level and ‘frequency’ to match it.
To understand the second mechanism — recall that Tradition speaks of «sigils» as support systems for vortices.
As a form of a volitional impulse in the telesmic environment, a vortex is, in essence, the «body» of that impulse, its carrier and shell. Each vortex has its own characteristics:
- impulse magnitude (י),
- rotational frequency (ה),
- length (ו) and
- diameter (״ה).

Of these, the vortex’s «energy module» (י) and its «directionality» (ו) are relatively constant, while the «frequency» (ה) and the «scale» of influence (״ה) can vary and be ‘tuned’. It is precisely the latter that are the «targets» for manipulating vortices, including by means of sigils.
From this point of view, a sigil is a graphic structure capable of changing the frequency of the vortex to which it is analogous.
In other words, the sigil, or realization symbol, is an image whose very act of creation is accompanied by the emergence of a peculiar «inert» or «potential» vortex that can interfere with the actual vortex, altering its parameters. Such a «potential» vortex is relatively independent of its creator’s mind (it may even arise by chance), yet it is always energetically active toward a coherent vortex.

Magi have long noticed that certain graphic structures alter energy currents in the environment, turning this observation into a major branch of Graphical Magic. Among such structures are pentagrams, Seals, and many of the Magical Squares.
Note that only those squares written with sacred (that is, energetically active) symbols — Hebrew, «Enochian» and the like — have operative power. Numeric and Latin squares act primarily through the operator’s mind, and therefore are dependent on their Power and Authority.

It is clear that such squares are complex multilayered structures whose development requires considerable skill and extensive experience. Unlike the «simpler» sigils (for example, the pentagram or the cross), squares cannot arise by chance or naturally. Yet although they are the product of skilled practitioners’ work, thereafter they are completely independent of their authors and live their own lives.
A Magus wishing to learn the Magic of Squares should first study the features, properties, and effects of the existing collections of such sigils, and only then proceed to creating their own.
In any case, this branch of Magic remains relatively underdeveloped and is a promising field for cultivating Power and Authority by serious, conscientious practitioners.

A very complex topic explained in very accessible words. Thank you for your effort.
Can the squares of Abramelin be used if the knowledge and interview with the SAH have not yet been reached?
Of course, if there’s enough audacity and understanding)
