Dragon’s Eye: Vision of the Essence

Another “anti-virtual” symbol, impossible for the Interval that distinguishes “empty” images from those whose interaction may provide energy, is the so-called “Dragon’s Eye” (Oculus Draconis). This symbol, combining vortical, vector, and semantic activity, is a powerful universal amulet incorporating the symbolism of the triangle, the tetrahedron, and the four elements — especially the element of fire. As a protective talisman, it can be used to support wisdom, strength, harmony, intuition, and creativity.

This symbol has been known since ancient times, and although in antiquity it was rarely used in amulets and talismans, it was often depicted or laid out in stone on high ground, hills, and mountain peaks, marking points of “far sight”, where signal fires were often placed, helping to quickly transmit information — for example, about enemy invasions or the start of Royal hunts.

“Dragon’s Eye”, graphically representing an equilateral triangle with rays emanating from the central point, is, in fact, a variant depiction of the Upper part of the Great Arcanum, and thus describes the process of the birth of reality, the emergence of the creative Triad from hidden Unitarity.

In other words, this symbol reflects the state of the “first moments” of a nascent universe (at any level of the macro- or psychocosmos), a state when chaos is only “about” to turn into cosmos, and elementality — into orderliness.

In fact, it is precisely this state of reality that is reflected in the image of the Dragon — the “elemental” component of any system, any object, or any stream of mind. Accordingly, the first meaning that the symbol of the “Eye” has is the awakening of creativity. A symbol connected with the powerful creative energy of dragons can stimulate the imagination and help in the realization of creative projects.

Fire symbolizes passion, strength, transformation, and purification. Using the “Dragon’s Eye” symbol with an emphasis on its connection with the element of fire can help activate the fiery nature of mind, strengthening passion, will, and determination. The tetrahedron, being one of the Platonic solids, also has deep symbolism and a connection with the “Dragon’s Eye”. As a two-dimensional projection of a tetrahedron, the symbol can represent the four elements: air, water, earth, and fire. Especially important in this context is the element of fire, which is associated with dragons as fire-breathing beings. This can also help in transformation and purification from old habits, attitudes, or situations that hinder development and growth.

The “Dragon’s Eye” symbol can be used to activate the fiery nature of mind, such as passion, will, energy, and determination. Since this symbol is associated with fire and dragons, it can remind one of the strength and power that can be activated in the mind of the wearer.

“Dragon’s Eye” can boost personal strength and self-confidence. The symbol can support making difficult decisions.

Fire also symbolizes purification and renewal, since it can destroy the old and prepare a place for the new. The connection of the “Dragon’s Eye” with fire means that the symbol helps cleanse negative energies and obstacles, providing protection from them. Fire is also associated with transformation and regeneration. Thus, the “Higher Dragon”, Phoenix, is reborn from ashes after death in fire. In this context, the “Dragon’s Eye” can be a protective symbol, providing the strength to overcome difficulties and be reborn after crises or failures.

Thus, the second function of the symbol is protection. As a protective symbol, “Dragon’s Eye” can tap fire’s power for protection to shield the wearer from undesirable influences. These properties can help ward off negative energies and provide protection for those who wear this symbol or use it as an amulet or talisman.

The “Dragon’s Eye” symbol can be viewed as a blend of passive and active protection. Different aspects of the symbol imply different kinds of protection, and the result may depend on the wearer’s use. As a sickle symbol, “Dragon’s Eye” can serve as a protective charm that shields the wearer from negativity, dangers, and troubles, without any effort on the part of the wearer. In this sense, the symbol can be considered passive protection that guards and protects its wearer from harm, even if they do nothing to activate this protection. On the other hand, “Dragon’s Eye” can also act as a Staff and denote active protection, since it is associated with wisdom, clear vision, and the ability to see dangers. This suggests that the wearer of the symbol can use these qualities to actively resist threats and dangers. In this case, “Dragon’s Eye” helps the wearer decide wisely and act in their own interests to protect themselves and their loved ones.

Thus, the third and most important aspect of the symbol’s activity is the activation of “clear vision”, discernment, and seeing through reality. Indeed, it is precisely this property that served to identify Dragons as a fundamental symbol: the Greek word δράκων itself comes from the verb δέρκομαι (dérkomai), meaning “I see”, whose completed form is ἔδρακον (édrakon). This epithet refers to something with a “deadly gaze”, with unusually “bright” or “sharp” (keen) eyes. In turn, the Greek word probably comes from the Indo-European root *derḱ — “to see”; the Sanskrit root दृश् (dr̥̥-) also means “to see”.

It is precisely “vision”, the overcoming of darkness, gained through interaction with the “Inner Dragon” — a force that overcomes Ignorance — the veil of Keshet — both in the creative process, when from the “world of ideas” — Yesod — the world of objects — Malkuth — is born, and on the path of evolution, when mind acquires the ability to see the foundations and causes of phenomena. This feature is what makes the “Dragon’s Eye” incompatible with the Interval: it expresses the birth of actuality, and therefore it belongs to the Manifest world.

As applied to this symbol, clear vision can be regarded as one of the key characteristics associated with dragons and their immense wisdom. As a protective charm, this symbol can help cultivate intuition, insight, and the ability to see beyond surface phenomena.

Dragons, as a symbol of clear and far sight, reflect the ability to penetrate the essence of things, see hidden aspects of reality, and detect potential dangers or opportunities. In this context, “Dragon’s Eye” can be used as a tool that expands the mind and improves the capacity for insight.

Fire also has the symbolic meaning of light and illumination. Light is often associated with enlightenment, truth, and the ability to see what is hidden in darkness. “Dragon’s Eye” can also use this association with fire to help its wearer see dangers and threats that may be hidden from the ordinary gaze. “Dragon’s Eye” can help cultivate intuitive understanding of complex situations, improve decision-making, and increase awareness of the surrounding world. As a semantic symbol, the “Eye” can remind one of the need to balance strength with wisdom, and also support balance between different aspects of life.

Thus, the “Dragon’s Eye” symbol can foster wisdom, clear vision, and the ability to see dangers — which is also a form of protection. These qualities can help the wearer of the symbol navigate difficult situations and avoid potential problems, which in turn makes the “Dragon’s Eye” a powerful protective and activating symbol, taking on special significance during periods of pressure from the Interval and chaotic forces that disrupt the mind.

  1. Interesting information! Why is there so little information about this symbol on the internet?
I hope there will be a continuation.

  2. Hello! I’m no longer surprised that you answer unasked questions. I will ask the next obvious one: how do different amulets interact with each other? Is there any memorable experience of careless combination of amulets as advised from the interspace?

    • Hello.
each amulet attracts the energy inherent to it, unlike a talisman, which activates already existing energy. Therefore, if different amulets attract dissonant energies – the result will be a conflict, possibly with an outflow of energy or its impact.

  3. I have loved the Dragon’s Eye since ancient times, even when I first read about the Eye ritual in the book ’21 Lessons of Merlin’, thank you for reminding me and expanding my understanding of this symbol.
