Adeptship and Enlightenment
The key concept by which the Magical Myth describes the Magus’s Way is realization.
We have said many times that the Magus does not simply «search» for himself, or «build» himself. He simultaneously searches, builds, and struggles.
The Magus – realizes his potential, and the meaning of the Magus’s life is precisely this active, and at the same time attention-demanding process.
In other words, Magic regards every manifested state as realization, the conversion of potential into real, operative powers. Therefore it is understandable why Magic speaks so much about the importance of realizing desires, taking action, and so forth. Each time he says «do what thou wilt», the Magus means precisely – realize what needs to be manifested. The very notions of “realization” and “actualization” imply that something strives to manifest, contains within it the impulse to manifest, and all that is required is to remove obstacles to that manifestation. At the same time the Magi see that the human mind is formed under the influence of a large number of destructive forces, and therefore a great many destructive components become integrated into it, making the process of realization inefficient and causing significant energy dispersion. Accordingly, the question of realization is closely connected with the ability to discern, and the Magus’s main efforts, especially at the early stages of his development, are directed not at realization itself but at discovering his own elements. Without success in this search the Magus’s mind is like a cell infected with a virus, which, instead of producing what it needs to exist, produces only viral particles, serving merely as an incubator for the parasite’s reproduction. The Magus meticulously separates in his mind “the wheat from the chaff,” finding his own potential, inclinations, and desires, and peeling them away from the husk of destructive, imposed, and distorted impulses. This is the first component of the Way – the Search. The second component is Struggle. When we speak of the battles of the Magus, we mean precisely active efforts to overcome the destructive components within the mind. This is not to say that the Magus runs through the streets waving a sword or a phurba; the Magus fights primarily in his mind, uprooting weeds and depriving the predators and parasites of power. And, in fact, the third and most important component of the Magus’s Way is realization. It is clear that until it becomes clear what must be realized, and until the possibility of that realization is established, there can be no question of development. In fact, life begins only when the current of energy becomes relatively stable and free. And all three components of the Way alternate along the Way: the Magus overcomes obstacles, finds the components ready for actualization, and creates conditions for their realization. Each successive realization opens a new field of possibilities, which also must be cleared and cultivated. Each time the Magus manages to clear another section of the Way, new developmental prospects open before him, and this moment of clear vision is usually called “enlightenment.” This vision becomes particularly distinct upon reaching the state of Harmony – Tiferet, which the Myth describes as the becoming an Adept.
It is precisely the attainment of this stage that demands a global change in one’s view of the world.
Before entering the Tree the world appears to a person merely as an environment in which his activity takes place.
At the stages of the Seeker the novice’s gaze is confronted with the shadowed, reverse side of the cosmos – the world of mutual consumption and devouring.
The attainment of Adeptship brings the mind to a new level when the world begins to be perceived, above all, as a field of possibilities necessary for self-realization. Predators and parasites do not disappear, nor does their onslaught abate; on the contrary, the battles grow ever hotter. However, while at the Seeker level the battle is a kind of overcoming one’s nature formed under the influence of the parasite of the mind, at the Adept level the battle becomes an everyday reality, and the goals of the struggle are utterly obvious and perceived merely as necessary preparation for the real task – realization. It is precisely this change of perspective that is enlightenment in the strict sense of the word.
Thus everything the Magus does on the Way of his development creates the conditions for the manifestation of his potential. Seeds must be sown, and weeds removed. And if everything is done rightly, the shoots will not be long in coming.
The Way of Magic, then, is a kind of “foundation” for realization. No one attains developmental success if they expend effort only on self-development. Instead of enlightenment one thereby attains only an illusion of purity – a product of Lucifer. One may know endlessly about the Light, the Sefirot, currents of energy and so on; one may practice MRP for hours or assume manifold divine forms, and yet not advance an iota, remaining a mere toy in the hands of destructive forces.
All efforts must be directed at seeking and removing obstacles, at separating one’s own elements from destructive forces, at cleansing the field of the mind.
However, it is important not to get stuck in a sense of darkness and hopelessness. The Magus must understand that his work is clearing a stream bed, the work of purifying his mind, and as the filth is removed the water becomes ever clearer and its flow ever freer. One may flounder in sewage as much as one likes, but until the filth is found and removed there will be no living flow of the mind.
The Magus should not “fight with himself,” “limit” or “tame” himself; on the contrary, he should seek himself and create the conditions for his manifestation, and the discipline of the Magus is the ability to restrain foreign manifestations within his own mind.

Hello! And thank you for the interesting topic! One question has piqued my interest – is the measure of harmony/d destructiveness of actions for a Mage in relation to their Path their own honesty, or are there any external signs? For example: an Adept digs up and learns some realization system, let’s say learns to play the Medici Patience – there’s a tool, but aside from consumer goals, there are specifically none, and those gradually blur in the ‘good’ direction; as temptation grows, how does he understand if he should somehow check himself for the presence of ‘cancerous’ formations more thoroughly or ‘do what you wish and let whatever happens happen’?
Eiol, ‘In fact, the measure of the harmony of the system is the coherence, the interdependence of its elements. It is the coherence, that is, the mutual enhancement of elements, that is the main feature of the harmonious state of the system.’ https://enmerkar.com/en/way/the-maguss-harmony The clearer the harmony, the closer the Mage is to Tiferet……You are not reading carefully, you are not delving in, but that is not surprising. In the parasitic technogenic system, ‘consciousness is encouraged to glide across the surface without penetrating deeply.’ Overcoming this, ‘the Mage strives to penetrate into the Essence of any object or phenomenon they are aware of.’ I have noticed that at the heart of many issues considered here in the blog lies an understanding of fundamental philosophical concepts…..
The Medici Patience is an element of the Izrigi myth and his group, which sank into oblivion. This ‘tool’ on its own is worth nothing. The Medici Patience, like other separate elements of the Izrigi myth that the network is stuffed with, is traps, catching attention and time. Name just one person who owns the Izrigi myth wholly. Or people who completely possess the myth of Carlos. As the Izrigi myth, so the myth of Carlos are, to this day, dead. We only touch upon their melting decisively. Carlos gave the world his fairytales, ARTISTIC books, and Tensegrity – for lovers to parrot incomprehensible movements like parrots))) The mythical Izrigi definitely tempts with the reality of cards. The card is real; it pointed to its existence, and anyone, if they wish, can verify it. Also, due to the work of collecting and analyzing dreams of a large number of people in 6 megacities, Izrigi came to some very interesting, in my opinion, conclusions with far-reaching consequences, but what is interesting, five years ago you could find information about his conclusions online, and now it’s nowhere to be found. The Medici Patience is a ritual, a material anchor, helping to incarnate intention. It is close to the individual characteristics of the ‘separate reality’ of the Izgigi group, but it is far from a fact that it is close to your individual characteristics. Will your foot fit someone else’s shoe?))) About the truth of your desires. Are they yours or are they pushed by the parasite?… in this same article, there is a hyperlink to the answers… https://enmerkar.com/en/way/the-emergence-of-desires
Yes, the measure is one’s own honesty with oneself. External signs are violations of these honesties, particulars of oneself. External signs are general. Internal signs are particular. By violating the particular, it somehow manifests externally and vice versa. The important thing is that the Mage can correct promises and violations. Development can still occur for those who have nothing solely by algorithm. I make a promise to myself, I violate it, I correct what I have violated by making changes externally because I produce the violation in the macrocosm and also make corrections that are balanced in the psychocosmos. By correcting, I attain enlightenment. Enlightenment is the integration of the private and the general. The Kabbalistic tikun.
Roma, please clarify for me as a blonde))), What is Development?
Development is the Correction of desires – the Kabbalist M. Lichtman speaks about this. An example of development. M. Lichtman builds the Third Temple. Lichtman is a Jew with a capital letter. I perceive the macrocosm as a Temple as I have nothing and no one – a Jewish view of the world. I perceive the microcosm as a seven-branched candlestick. I have no candlestick that illuminates the temple. I have no Temple. 🙂 So, development in the macrocosm and microcosm. The beauty of the temple will be visible to me to the extent that I can illuminate. The symbol of the Jews is the seven-branched candlestick. So, I have 7 points of perception of reality. The legend of the seals and guardians. All these points have seals imposed on them. Which one does not burn, which one is smoldering. No one cares. My development is to reveal the glow. To cleanse my lantern, my candlestick. And it is not a candlestick but 72 sources of light, like that. The chakra concept. I’m shedding garbage from my chakras. I come to the temple, I begin to shine, and I understand where I am in what space. Since I understand that as many temples, so many light sources of chakras. The task of a person is to become like the light and to reveal at least 7 sources of light. Revealing 72 sources of light is the Temple, and Light will equal either going into other forms of consciousness; I don’t know where. And if I develop in simpler terms, then I do so as follows. I lived with my mom and dad, i.e., in a family under house arrest – this is the first Temple. I began to attend gatherings, squares, school, institute, Shabbat in the synagogue – this is the second Temple. Next, my development in the first two Temples is invisible; i.e., either I need to add light sources to shine in the first and second temple, or I must reveal my shine in the third Temple. I started revealing my shine in the third temple. I moved to live in a dormitory and work on common terms. I reveal myself in such a way by correcting my uncorrected desires; I make corrections to them. And I correlate external changes and internal ones. Development is changes; it is necessary to systematically rise above oneself to get results; at 30, it is unbearably difficult. For example, at 30, I begin to correct the light of Yesod. I find out that it has a monopoly. I am 30, and my light of Yesod is corrected at the age of 8-14 years. That is, at 30, I have a tail of 15 years. This is underdevelopedness; i.e., showing the word of the people. But I do not despair; I continue to live and make corrections, not allowing myself to suffer and not consuming weakness.
Roma, I thought about your words. How many times have I seen the Seven-branched Candle and never drew an analogy between it and the chakras. Why don’t you have a Seven-branched Candle? It is your Chakras. You know best which one is not burning, which one is smoldering. In my understanding – the 1st lamp (Muladhara) – survival. You are alive, which means the first lamp is burning. The 2nd lamp (Svadhisthana) – desire. You desire, feel attraction, which means the second lamp is also burning. The 3rd lamp (Manipura) – interaction. This one is more complicated; often the interaction with the outside world is not what you desire at all. The central lamp – the heart (Anahata) – love. If there is even one person in the world whom you love, or another being, the central lamp of yours is burning, and the more sincerely you love, the stronger it burns. It doesn’t matter if the love is mutual or not; after all, no one forbids you to love. The 5th lamp (Vishuddha) – the word. If you speak, I hear you, which means there’s fire in this lamp; the 6th lamp (Ajna) – the third eye – foresight, ‘out of body’. The 7th lamp (Sahasrara) – unity with the Absolute… Temple. I fled from my parental home, but I never found my own because I was only running and didn’t want to stop anywhere. My motto was – ‘The road is my home.’ In a compartment car of a train – I am home, at the station at night in Dnipro, listening to someone else’s stories over the most delicious coffee in the world from machines – I am home. In a minibus, a bus, walking down the road – I am home. My home – my Temple – is where I am at the moment here and now. The Earth is my Temple… After 5 years I realized that I was escaping FROM myself – I turned around and went in the other direction – TO myself (to discovering my individuality), which I was running away from. This is a path lengthy as life. All world religions for me are equivalent to the word dependency. Although from each religion, you can glean a lot of interesting and informative things. Nature is my religion. It does not require worship. In nature, I feel harmony. To develop – for me – is to grow branches into the sky, to know the universe’s infinity of faces. As I grow, I become greater. I penetrate more into the universe (Macrocosm), and the universe penetrates into me… 72 sources of light – 72 streams between the upper and lower Limits – 72 demons of the copper bowl – 72 geniuses of Shemhamforash…Acknowledging one’s own imperfection is an important step on the path of development. I see, Roma, that you have courage; very few are able to acknowledge this… ‘Incredibly heavy’ means – you are walking the path of overcoming. By overcoming, we gain Strength… Max Numen, what does Development mean to you? Please share.
For me, development is movement. Constantly and restlessly. It is constant questions and answers. It is trials, errors, answers, understanding the new, the shattering of illusions, awareness, again the destruction of illusions and the birth of new ones. It is a search, a striving for understanding the new. The birth of ideas, recognizing them as erroneous, every day a new perspective on everything. It is life, and it is filled. I understand that I am merely the needs of the Creator for realization… He wants to understand and feel everything through me, and I give him this.
Hmm.. it is difficult to remain an independent expert of your thoughts. It is important to encompass the whole meaning, and that is not so easy. Eiol: the measure of actions for a mage is the mage themselves. You are the creator of your realizations. Roman: it depends on what kind of violations are being discussed. If it is about violations of your word, then yes; but if it is about violations of balance, then everything can be harsh and fast. The forces will not tolerate imbalance.
Numen: The forces must change and will change with patience or without patience. The imbalance of power is now expressed in the world of men by the fact that responsiveness is taken for weakness. This is a violation of balance. Naivety is taken for stupidity. And if I have made a promise to myself, or rather, my nature is such as to be responsive and naive. So, what should I do now, bending under the forces to avoid the imbalance outside, be imprisoned and suppressed in the society because some forces have branded me with a mark for life without chances to rise, as they want to see me to not disturb the balance of their power and greatness? Or madman, paying me disability benefits and perceiving, labeling me to the end of my life as society’s outcast? The only thing I can do, having nothing in principle, maintaining such a balance of forces is to keep my virtues, which allow me to develop and remain human.
I wrote a comment and then realized that it doesn’t relate to the topic at hand. This is about different processes. Deeper processes occurring in consciousness. I hope Enmerkar, you will allow me to present a slightly different point of view here. Perhaps it will be useful to someone.
Roman: perhaps we are talking about different Forces. I mean Directions. The balance of Darkness and Light. If your true Desire is to carry Light, you will carry Light, but if you sincerely embody Evil and it contributes to the generation of energy and feelings, then the Forces (Order) will not oppose it.
Why do you think you should bend to someone? This is a stereotype. Stereotypes created by various cultures reflect a desired view of the essence of things. This needs to be rid of.
I will try to speak in the language of this Myth:
What you consider to be a stigma on yourself – is a parasite. Good-Evil, to bend or not to bend – is just your vision of non-existent laws. All of this exists only in your head.
Numen: I don’t know if I’m writing on-topic. Regarding light. When we were in the mountains at Enmerkar’s seminar, we were trying to make a proper fire, which was a whole problem.
So I write this to point out that the right fire, the right light costs dearly. I’m talking about deeper processes happening in stale minds. I don’t even know how much this would amount to in money. For me, this light fire is equivalent to life. My life is priceless for me. What could be deeper?
Regarding Evil and the one who bears Light. A Light-bearing person simply must discern Evil orders. And not just discern them, but be able to express Light using Darkness.
You wrote well, “Evil and this contributes to the generation of energy and feelings, then the Forces (Order) will not oppose this.”
You have described the Wheel of Samsara on Earth and the religious movement with a fall into the klippot of man. No one will oppose the fall of man.
We need to get rid of stereotypes; I wrote about this.
If youth could, then old age would know how.
Roman, Numen – thank you for your responses, but I am a bit not about this. I’m saying that, knowing the World, its Laws, learning to properly frame intention and conduct realizations, a Mage also takes on a certain responsibility towards the World (in a computational manner, it acquires a higher priority status); naturally, while doing this, he strives to maximize the realization of their potential right now. But the feeling of the flow, that direction in which one needs to act may not be present specifically at this time. And here’s the question, rather probably about the impeccable nature of the Mage – should one act for the sake of action, gaining experience but with unclear motives (while also having to understand whether you are pouring water into the mill of your weaknesses), or is it more of a priority to wait for some response from the Strength, a full internal readiness?
It is difficult to give an unambiguous assessment of you, Eiol. Everyone has their own vision of the path and strategy. I can only give an example of my tactics. I believe that if I have decided to do something, then I am ready for it and I do it. Although this tactic sometimes hits hard on the head or the heart. But in return, I gain experience and understanding of where the mistake was and how to do better.
“Is it worth it to act for the sake of action, gaining experience but with unclear motives?” – ask yourself – Why do I need to gain experience? What is the Goal? – maybe you don’t need to gain it. However, if the decision has already been made, then pondering it is ineffective – Act.
Tavita Shauta (Katya): – You are reading inattentively, you are not delving in, but that is not surprising. – I’m not on purpose 🙂 – In the parasitic technogenic system, ‘consciousness is encouraged to glide across the surface without penetrating deeply.’ Overcoming this – ‘the Mage strives to penetrate the Essence of any object or phenomenon they are aware of.’ – I completely agree with you, but… – I have noticed that at the heart of many issues considered here in the blog lies an understanding of fundamental philosophical concepts… – In the world, there are dozens (this is only the popular ones) of philosophical schools, as well as more than one or two living Traditions today. Think about it – in the statement about the existence of certain ‘fundamental philosophical concepts,’ there are only YOUR Fundamental philosophical concepts, and fitting into the template ‘said correctly / didn’t understand’ is the very run-through ‘on the surface’ that was mentioned above; you are too dogmatic 🙂 – The Medici Patience is an element of the Izrigi myth and his group, which sank into oblivion – It was just brought up as an example; if you don’t like this one – take any other realization system; the question of essence will not be lost. – This ‘tool’ in itself is worth nothing – 🙂 Then could you provide an example of one that is worth ‘by itself’ so that it means, you just lie on the couch, sipping beer, and then *bam* Strength, Freedom, Peace in colors… 🙂 – The Medici Patience, like other isolated elements of the Izrigi myth that the network is stuffed with, are traps, catching attention and time – A universal formula has emerged for you 🙂 And any distinct system of descriptions is already useful in that it complements yours – the Myth is, in any case, only an attempt to put into words our worldview, to express our experiences in certain Laws, and I value and respect any attempt to explore this oneself or share it (including HS). – It is close to the individual characteristics of the ‘separate reality’ of the Izgigi group, but it is far from a fact that it is close to your individual characteristics. – Can we say that Ohm’s law is close to the individual characteristics of the ‘separate reality’ of physicists and electricians? 🙂 And is it necessary for me, a simple humanitarian, to know their silly research on some resistances and conductors when it comes to repairing a transformer by my own hands, for example? – Will your foot fit someone else’s shoe?))) – This is precisely related to my question about external signs on the Path of the Mage, where, on one side, each Tradition acts (”presses”) on its follower with its attributes (including and the methods of realization), and on the other, such a notion as the Path includes a personal ‘good and bad’ (Oleg, Castaneda’s Spirit Law, etc.), hence the question was about a possible conflict in development between the Tradition’s recommendations and deep personal feelings of correctness (whether it is justified or whether something more is needed – an external sign).
Eiol, may I use the informal ‘you’? I didn’t say that it was on purpose 🙂
Fundamental philosophical concepts: I will list some – substance, field, matter, energy, method, principle, concept, aspect, synthesis, analysis, immanence, transcendence, Harmony – are they mine? Schools operate with fundamental (underlying the description of the world) concepts-bricks, they build houses of concepts from them. For example, does the word Immanence mean different things in different schools?
“By itself” – a separate, detached, severed element of the Myth. The Myth is a system of interconnected elements. I agree – knowing the differing systems of describing the world is useful, important – for rethinking, supplementing our own system of description or NOT supplementing – understanding that ‘your own shirt is closer to the body.’ But regarding Hackeros, I have a special opinion. The HC Myth flowed from the Carlos Myth. In his tales, Carlos revealed a system of tools for the Reforging of the Soul (and notice, I’m currently avoiding appraising Carlos’s tool system, just mentioning it). The Reforging of the Soul according to Carlos’s system (in the context of the Toltec tradition) is a lengthy process that takes years, as do other tool systems offered by other Traditions. However, Izrigi wanted to gain everything quickly, so he created his own system of tools. However, Izrigi did not leave the world a more or less integral Myth, only pieces and fragments. I have analyzed – nowadays anyone can subscribe on the networks of Masyanya, Rovenaya or Tukhly and carry nonsense with a smart look. But there is little benefit from this. More haze in the network. Reading the forums of Hackeros, I do not recognize anything new, only waste time, filling my head with all sorts of meaningless nonsense, that’s why I call them traps that catch attention and time…
Regarding Ohm’s Law)))) – Eiol, are you a Paffer? – Do you want to take and use someone else’s ready-made implementation system without understanding what is happening? – It doesn’t work for me, for example. It only works ON MY TERMS. When I have a Goal, energy is found to achieve it and ways to realize it. My ways and my tools, created from the elements of Knowledge inside me, that’s why I said – ‘Will your foot fit in someone else’s shoe?’ 🙂
It’s better to take a step forward and make a mistake than to stand in indecision, never knowing if it was worth it.
Great article, Enmerkar! I am very grateful for your work. Amazingly deep meanings are explained in the simplest and most understandable language. Believe me, I know how much effort is required for such ease of description; one must experience everything they talk about firsthand. Please accept my deep gratitude, with respect.
