The Threshold in the Psychocosmos
A fundamental term describing the Power that holds the world in a differentiated state is the notion of the Threshold, the Rift. Magic applies this concept for the Psychocosmos by introducing the notion of the “Barrier of perception.”
In other words, the separateness of objects, currents of Power, and whole Worlds is maintained by a repelling force existing between energies, which manifests in its benevolent aspect as the Guardian of the Rift and in its dark aspect as the Serpent of Negation.
We have already said that overcoming this Force in the mind of the Magus is the first step on his Way to the expansion of awareness.
Nevertheless, this overcoming, the “breakthrough through the Threshold,” is both difficult and dangerous.
The human mind is formed and develops behind a solid wall that, on the one hand, ensures its security, and on the other hand limits its development. This wall is not absolutely impermeable, and from time to time both creative and destructive intrusions break through into the mind — phenomena favored objects of dissection in modern psychoanalysis.
However, Magic is not limited to forays beyond the Threshold; it requires the mind’s complete control of the Threshold — in other words, it requires the fundamental integrity of the Psychocosmos, without dividing it into “sub-” and “supra-” other quasi-minds. This, by the way, is the chief danger of Magic: by destabilizing the Threshold the Magus can easily slip into madness and ultimately lose his sanity instead of attaining integrity and effectiveness.
Therefore, the first conflict the Magus faces is the conflict with the force that sustains the mind in its closed, stable state — with his Guardian Angel.
The task of the Guardian Angel is to protect the mind from dark inoculations originating with the demonic inhabitants of the Psychocosmos. Yet in performing this protective function, the Guardian also serves as the jailer of the mind, preventing its development beyond its set limits. Thus, the being finds itself between two fires — on the one hand the Demons dream of tearing another piece of life‑force from it, and on the other the Angels, “with the sword that turneth,” hinder the mind’s entry into wholeness.
It is obvious that one cannot “convince” the Demons to abandon their predation, so the Magus’s efforts are directed toward turning the Guardian from an enemy into an ally, a theme reflected in numerous rituals of different traditions — for example, in the famous quest for the “Knowledge and Conversation” of modern European Magic.
Without “mastering” the Threshold the Magus cannot truly control his Psychocosmos, and, fully aware of the danger of this step, he must nevertheless resolve to take it, since only then does he have a chance to become master of his own mind and, acting as sovereign, begin to rid the Psychocosmos of marauding invaders.

If I understand correctly, the “guardian angel” is a force protecting the psycho-cosmos from parasitic force, as if dosing and keeping it within limits. The magician learns to control this “angel” (gradually expanding boundaries); in the process, the skill of fighting the enemy comes, which leads to power accumulation and control. Or is gradual control impossible here? And does “mastery” mean overcoming once, and from that moment, full responsibility?
The Guardian Angel not only protects, He also enlightens if He sees that the consciousness is ready and who better than Him knows whether your consciousness is ready for frequency elevation or not…
Scientists have figured out what it is that magicians and mystics chase. They try by their known methods to raise the frequency of their consciousness.
But the phrase “raising the frequency of consciousness” is abstract, as it is unclear in which exact place the frequency is raised…
But recently, scientists discovered this place and can measure the frequency of any person. They learned to measure the frequency of the pineal gland and found out that the frequency of the pineal gland in an ordinary person is 6-8Hz, the frequency of a drug addict is 20Hz, the frequency of an indigo child is 40Hz. And correspondingly, the frequency of a magician fluctuates somewhere from 7 to 40Hz, depending on what kind of magician it is:).
From this example, we can conclude that you can raise the frequency of your consciousness using drugs, but everyone knows what this ultimately leads to.
I wish scientists would find out what is responsible for the stability of consciousness, to know exactly whether the consciousness is ready for this frequency elevation or not…
But there is good news – your Guardian Angel knows about this and knows very precisely.
Tell me, Enmerkar, what do you think about the assertion that our physical dense world is the so-called world of becoming? And that only by completing a series of incarnations in this or similar worlds can consciousness eventually attain an indestructible point of support in itself, which will allow it access to some other, higher realms in the ontological sense of the word? In short, that our world is something like a school or a training sandbox, in which relatively young consciousnesses undergo their education? But, at the same time, everything that happens in this school happens ‘for real’, and not all eggs will hatch dragons and phoenixes—some will simply be turned into an omelet. And, as Krishnamurti wrote, to gain a chance of victory in this game a person must acquire the mindset and awareness of danger and seriousness of what is happening as if they suddenly discovered a poisonous snake in their pocket. And thank you so much for all your articles and answers!
I do not believe in ‘young consciousnesses.’ Consciousness and being are eternal; one is impossible without the other; reality is inseparable from the perceiving/creating it. Thus, gilgul (samsara) has no beginning for either worlds or monads.
As for ‘our’ world—it is equally inseparable from us; therefore, we create it in the process of our self-awareness. Accordingly, ‘higher’ worlds are also created—by the flows of consciousness describing them. And the evolutionary level of each such flow is the degree of its harmoniousness, realized, rather than its ‘age’.
Thus, any world is a ‘school,’ but this ‘school’ is created by each one for themselves, and they go through those lessons that they also choose themselves.
