Self-Knowledge, Self-Scrutiny, and Self-Admiration

As we have said, the basis of manifest existence at any of its levels is self-knowledge of the primary nondual reality in one of its aspects — the aggregate of its qualities — through self-reflection and self-actualization.

Accordingly, the task of each embodied being is to provide this self-knowledge at the level of an individual flow of mind by recording and identifying its reactions to its interactions with various objects and processes, both within the mind itself and in the “environment” of its manifestation.

At the same time, such interactions are usually not perfect or smooth; they are accompanied by errors, distortions, which, accumulating step by step and layering upon one another, lead to the stream of mind becoming “stuck” in the cycle of manifested existence — gilgul (samsara).

The actual situation is that any real stream of consciousness that decides to honestly diagnose its condition discovers a vast number of distortions, destructors, that have intruded into it (developed within it) and hinder its productive functioning toward self-actualization.

If such a discovery of its “clouded” state does indeed occur, the stream of mind naturally and inevitably faces the question of how to return to its “healthy,” original, “enlightened” condition.

Although, in the ideal case, the mere recognition of the mind’s departure from its inner nature should serve as the impetus for an immediate return — an “enlightening” of the stream of mind — in practice there is usually not enough clarity of vision, resolve, or energy in the current clouded state. Therefore, instead of an immediate “leap into enlightenment,” the stream of mind most often faces a long road back to itself. An effective approach to such gradual self-purification consists in detecting destructive patterns and immediately transforming them into their “original,” “pure” manifestations, accompanied in parallel by the identification and actualization of the flow of mind’s potentials — that is, by realizing its desires.

Precisely so: you discover a destructor — you immediately apply effort to eradicate it, transform it, and return the energy to its “legitimate” channel — this is how the productive process of purifying the mind should proceed. Nevertheless, even in this process errors often occur that lead to its ineffective unfolding.

The first type of error on this path consists in a “break” of the connection between detecting a destructor and transforming it. Instead of carrying out this two-part action, the mind becomes absorbed in finding “bugs” and errors in the current state of its stream, inventorying and recording them, and takes a certain pleasure in this. In fact, this kind of narcissism is tied to savoring its shortcomings, endlessly scrutinizing them and enjoying the discovery of new ones; moreover (usually subconsciously) this “bouquet” of destructors is perceived as evidence of the mind’s uniqueness or exceptionality that failed to discover its “positive” individuality. A mind caught on this hook either wallows in masochistic self-flagellation or passes off discovering flaws as “working on oneself,” irritably dismissing the question of why it doesn’t move beyond self-scrutiny and why it doesn’t attempt self-correction.

The second type of error lies in the “legitimization” of destructors, when the mind, having discovered a set of its distortions, proclaims them its “characteristics,” attempts to “accept itself as it is,” and declares its distorted state to be correct. As a result, pseudo-enlightened beings proliferate, imitating harmony and “removing” problems by ignoring them.

The third type of error consists in a mistaken approach to transformation, where instead of eliminating distortions they are effectively reinforced. These errors arise amid assertions that “this lesson must be worked through,” “this path has been completed,” but in fact, instead of genuinely extracting the “pure essence” or understanding the meaning of a particular interaction, there is a fixation on its distorted version in the hope that it will be “worked through” and thereby corrected. However, the more energy the mind pours into “working through” a destructor, the more entrenched its matrix becomes, and very often people striving to “exhaust” their destructors, to “learn lessons” from them, in fact only become more deeply stuck.

For the Magus, honest detection of destructive patterns, acknowledging them as limitations and errors — accompanied not by depression or regrets but by a striving for correction and improvement; accepting one’s current state not as an object of admiration but as raw material for development, purification, and realization; the timely ability to exit a destructive pattern without hoping repetition will exhaust it — these are extremely important skills that must be cultivated. Only by harmoniously and consistently combining the two traditional approaches (“solve” and “coagula”, purification and realization) can one truly “exhaust” the gilgul, realize the mind’s potentials, and thereby transcend the necessity of manifested existence (as well as the prohibition against it).

  1. Could you please tell me, is the boundary between Consciousness and Being real or invented by the Absolute? Because if it is real, it turns out the Absolute divided itself. And if not, then there is neither consciousness nor being.

    • It is impossible to discuss the absolute in relative terms. The ‘boundary’ is a conditional separation from the perspective of the Absolute, but the Absolute is not someone capable of ‘inventing’, so for relative consciousness it is quite real) From the perspective of the Absolute, both consciousness and being are merely its modes, manifestations, although in the Absolute itself, of course, there is no division (as there is no unity), since it is transcendent to all these categories. Instead of discussing (with inherently unsuitable) words/concepts about the inner nature of the Absolute, it is much more productive to engage in one’s own flow of consciousness, its actualization, and in that process discover its indistinguishability from the Absolute.

      • It is impossible to discuss the absolute in relative terms. The ‘boundary’ is a conditional separation from the perspective of the Absolute, but the Absolute is not someone capable of ‘inventing’, so for relative consciousness it is quite real) Who invents everything then? In my opinion, he is the only ‘someone’ capable of inventing, and only him. From the perspective of the Absolute, both consciousness and being are merely its modes, manifestations, although in the Absolute itself, of course, there is no division (just as there is no Unity), since He is transcendent to all these categories. If in Him there is no division, then between you and the absolute there is no division either. And the boundaries for you are as illusory as they are for Him. If you do not want of course to consider them real. And instead of discussing (with initially unsuitable) words/concepts about the inner nature of the Absolute, it would be much more productive to engage with your own flow of consciousness, its actualization, and in this process discover its indistinguishability from the Absolute. – And what is the point of actualization if in any actual state indistinguishability is a fact? Isn’t it simpler to actualize knowing this directly?

  2. Dear Enmerkar, for an unprepared and unenlightened audience, could you please explain how to identify or recognize these destructive elements? Look, I perform some action, it carries a certain meaning for me, i.e., by performing it I’m trying to overcome a certain fear or abstract myself from the opinions of others, or to gain some new element of inner freedom for myself. It is clear that anything new is new in everything and filled with different emotions. And what was right and what wasn’t, how can that be caught? What does ‘the disruption of the connection between the discovery of the distractor and its transformation’ mean? Found the distractor (assuming that we understood that it is a distractor) and how to transform it? Then you have about distortions. Can you explain how a person can distinguish distortion from their nature? And can it not be the case that, for example, what you consider a distortion might be normal for someone else? You yourself said that all rules and all stereotypes are a form of unfreedom. What does ‘honest detection’ mean, compared to what to understand? Does it mean, again, unfreedom? And the most difficult question, utterly unclear, how to reveal, activate and begin to utilize energy? I understand that this takes years, but at least how to make it so that it stops boiling inside and acquires at least some form?

    • It’s simpler to answer. ————– ‘For an unprepared and unenlightened audience, could you please explain how to isolate or identify these destructive elements?’ … Stalking. Here it is called ‘hunting yourself’. (More poetically, hmm.) But in the mass, all this is called stalking. From Carlos – yes. ————– ‘Look, I perform some action, it carries a certain meaning for me, i.e., by performing it I’m trying to overcome a certain fear or abstract myself from the opinions of others, or to obtain some new element of inner freedom for myself. It is clear that anything new is new in everything and filled with different emotions. And how to catch what is right and what is wrong?’ … Inner compass/inner pendulum/intuition/feeling. Accessing the True Self (High Self), looking at signs in the external world. Constantly re-checking, re-requesting. There are articles about this here. ————– ‘What does the ‘disruption’ of the connection between the discovery of the distractor and its transformation mean?’ … It means you don’t have to endlessly dig into distortions. Found it – corrected it immediately. Moved on. ————– ‘We found the distractor (assuming we understood that it is a distractor), how to transform it?’ … By willpower/ritual/any conscious action that is constructive and destroys that distractor. Since we live in the manifested daytime world – ideally this is done in the manifested world, in it it is fixed (accepted as actual). And then this principle of action is used in daily activity. ————– ‘Can you explain how a person can distinguish distortion from their nature?’ … To know Your nature. Your true nature. ————– ‘And can it not be the case that what you consider a distortion might be normal for someone else?’ … There are clear criteria in the Free Cosmos as to what is distortion. Relative to what and why. ————– ‘You said that all rules and all stereotypes are unfreedom.’ … There are patterns that are not rules. ————– ‘And the most complicated question, utterly unclear, how to reveal, activate and start using energy?’ … It is open to all by default. You are writing a comment. This is already your energy.

  3. Hello! How do you think pure Logos should manifest without distortions? To feel or find a more effective state, as such is not an option, since distortion can easily create an appearance of effectiveness, especially in the situation of a distorted observer with their own distorted value scale, and to feel ‘purification’ is a direct path to self-deception because a distorted reason leads to distorted causality and so on. Something like a blind method with one observer cannot be applied either. How to deal with this?

    • The problem lies in the fact that pure Logos can only manifest in a pure world, as the subject-object pair arises simultaneously and interdependently. That is why a person who has reached the level of initiation of Ipsissimus (‘the most perfect’) leaves the embodied world since their perfect state is incompatible with the imperfection of the world. Consequently, a darkened consciousness exists in a darkened world, and the purification of consciousness is accompanied by the purification of its object field. Kabbalah calls this mutual cleansing ‘tikkun’ – ‘correction’ (https://en.enmerkar.com/magus-way/gmar-tikun). Therefore all that remains is to work on this cleansing, to walk your Path, listen to your heart, and realize what it commands, thinking not about becoming ‘better’, but striving to get closer to your own nature.

  4. Regarding the comment to German. I understand that by the absolute you mean the Higher consciousness or the Almighty, whose Sources are the cause of the emergence of new centers of consciousness. Being is a means or conditions for existence. These are Spheres and worlds created by the consciousness of the ‘Absolute’. My question arose from your striving to actualize your own consciousness. That is, do you believe it is possible to understand the nature of your own consciousness without diving into the roots of the consciousness of the Absolute? Without asking, practicing, weighing… Just drifting in your flow accepting what you can convey. Sorry, but I will say this: only by having aspirations, desiring, practicing, being interested, making mistakes, Communicating with the Absolute, Forces, dangerous and non-dangerous beings, levels of consciousness, can one obtain knowledge, since Knowledge is based on Questions. Regarding Ipsissimus it turns out – reached it, looked at the world – cried – understood its imperfection – left. For this, a magician went towards enlightenment, to understand – to leave? Your explanation is illogical. A magician, wizard, reader, prophet, hunter goes towards understanding nature for various reasons. And these reasons lie in completely different planes of this reality.

  5. Good day! I apologize Enmerkar for my further words. With all respect for you and your work, I do not find really helpful information in your articles. Once again, I’m sorry, but it feels that you only describe how great the magicians are in each such article, how much they do and should do. But you do not describe in detail how to achieve that. Reminds me of training sessions where people are told: ‘1. Use your time effectively; 2. Overcome your fears, do what you dream of, etc…’, but there are no concrete tips on how to do this. Enmerkar, tell me, why make such ‘reviews on the magician’, without any guidance? You have many articles full of unique knowledge. But this one, and similar ones, are completely different.

    • Victor, reality is constructed depending on the dominant and the desires of the beings inhabiting it. If you want to increase a certain space, you must increase the number of those willing to do so. This also applies to the space of magic.

    • This article, as I understand it, reveals not so much the methodology itself but the direction. How to avoid mistakes, how not to be led by something false. It is not for advanced ones. After reading it several times carefully, I understood everything. That is, my initial level perceived it well, so it is not for ‘adults’, but for people like me. There is an opportunity to ask in the comments; everyone explains things. Probably, you meant that type of articles when you said ‘similar ones’. Look, not everyone is on the level of ‘doing’; someone is still just trying to delve in. Enmerkar probably understands this, both from the questions and in principle, which is why he writes such articles. You have a choice; you can read what suits you 🙂 I sometimes write angrily here in the blog comments about the author’s style, but this is actually a primary reaction to what I read for the first time. One needs to read three or four times, trying to understand every word, and then everything stabilizes.

    • Greetings, Victor. … You might read the comments on the latest articles, and it would become clear why and for what. Apparently, not everything is for you. … (Enna is already overwhelmed with such a number of questions and comments that this no longer looks like respect. Maybe it’s worth holding back a bit.) … Well, if you have read the blog attentively, you should have heard that ‘weapons cannot be transmitted over the internet.’ (This is the author’s position.) … P.S. I would like to see something different in the context of conversations about transformation. Although close. But, alas, there is a rule – everyone gives to the world what they see fit from themselves and their flow, as they see fit. … And yes, maybe it’s worth paying attention to the sections? And the sections: ‘observations, path’. 🙂 … And yes, in general, magicians are great compared to the average citizen, for example. 🙂 (Do not take it personally.)

  6. I apologize to the readers. I will follow Victor’s lead. I have some remarks: this blog gives an impulse but does not provide advancement, and those who get stuck in it do not create movement. I see many in this blog who are stuck at an initial stage, but no one who has gone down the path of magic. I repeat – this blog is not for repetitions; it is for beginnings. Thank you.

  7. The most interesting thing is that for many, magic is a game. But this game resembles acquiring a new iPhone. It seems trendy, popular, adds excitement. That’s all.
