Empty Vessels

Although, from the point of view of the Myth we have described — as we have said repeatedly — the meaning and purpose of the existence of both the Macro- and the Psychocosmos is their filled with the Light of consciousness, and these systems themselves are Vessels that receive Light, it is not uncommon for a Vessel, for one reason or another, to be unable to receive Light and to remain empty.

There are two manifestations of such emptiness: 1) the absence or death of the soul, and 2) the absence or obstruction of the connection between the embodied being and the Monad that projects it, as described in this article.

In any case, a Vessel can remain empty only if it is closed off in one way or another.

In the first case the Vessel is shut because of the absence or disruption of the binding principle between it and the Pleroma, which is the soul. Often the reverse also occurs when the absence of a soul is the consequence of a rupture in an individual’s connection with the world as a whole.

The second case usually occurs when the emergence of a Vessel is not the result of a Monad’s projection but for other reasons — for example, two people want a child so strongly that they bring about the child’s birth by any means (or, conversely, pregnancy results from a sudden liaison, etc.), and the force that creates the new person is not the projecting activity of the Monad but the will of other people. In such circumstances, it may turn out that neither Monad requires the conditions for conscious development that the resulting conduit provides, and, accordingly, the newborn being does not realize any potential but lives, like a Golem, as an empty shell.

In any case, the emptiness of a Vessel has two consequences.

Firstly, its existence makes sense only as part of the cosmic economy, not as a self-sufficient unit. In other words, such a being is valuable only as “an element of the environment,” not as an independent agent. Typical representatives of such beings are the Fairies, which, being offspring of the Dark Mother, lack an individual soul and derive meaning only within Nature’s existence.

Secondly, such a being lacks the capacity for love, since it has no connection to the world’s fullness and does not feel the Pleroma’s reintegrative striving.

Among humans one often encounters empty beings drifting like grass in the wind, having neither meaning, nor purpose, nor Way. Moreover, unlike the Fairies, which are animated by the higher meaning of Nature, humans lack that breath and are entirely empty.

Nevertheless, for all empty Vessels, it is possible to open their receptivity and fill them with Light. It is well known that this is achieved through love as the highest transcendental faculty.

Just as Fairies acquire a soul and true immortality only by experiencing love, people born without a Monad’s connection establish it through a beloved person’s Monad.
