Power and Sexuality

We have already said that the Myth under consideration calls any flow of power that neutralizes the biner as sexual energy. In other words, any force that unites opposites is, from this point of view, erotic or sexual. This perspective greatly broadens our understanding of sexuality and its manifestations, since, in effect, almost any action can be sexual if it activates the corresponding energies.

Moreover, more often than not the activation of higher-level energies — that is, highly synthetic energies — occurs after a unifying stage of a biner-neutralizing influence; in other words, through the activation of sexual energy.

Awareness of this fact has a wide range of consequences — from attempts at total renunciation of sexuality and the transformation of energy from a potential to an actual state without focusing on the neutralization process itself, to the creation of elaborate rituals that teeter on the edge of debauchery or even cross into it, with the aim of maximally exciting sexual energies. Both of these extremes can yield large energy gains but can also lead one into traps — from limiting creative activity to being bluntly intoxicated by energy itself.

For the Magus, it is very important to follow a balanced course of action — that is, activate sexual energy within his control.

Some Magi find mastery of the energy through full or near-total abstinence; others can harness large volumes of this energy, and the whole spectrum of intermediate states can also be quite effective in a given situation for a particular Magus and a particular Way.

But one thing is never effective — denying the necessity of activating sexual energy for creative work.

At the same time, it is all too common to encounter both self-righteous “adepts of high spirituality” insisting on the need to suppress sexuality, which disrupts the normal flow of power and leads to uncontrolled discharges such as aggression or hatred, and “magical teachers” who disguise crude lust as “energy development.”

Yesenin expressed this very precisely:

“Oh, how I love poets!
A funny folk.
In them I always find
A tale familiar to the heart —
Like a pimply girl student
To whom a long-haired freak
Speaks of worlds,
His sex dripping with languor.”

Just as there are no Magi among the impotent, there are no Magi among those enslaved by Asmodeus.

Therefore, along with a high degree of inner honesty, control of sexual energy requires a clear understanding of its origin and its field of application. Such understanding will prevent both avoidance of sexuality and the proclamation of any intercourse as “tantra”.

An effective Magus must be sexual — in the sense that his unifying energies must be active, but he must control his sexuality and control it precisely, neither suppressing nor indulging it.

  1. Indeed, the issue of gender relations within the framework of development is very controversial, and I think many people who have embarked on the Path continue to think in the moral and ethical norms instilled in them since childhood, trying to cut off this theme as having no relation to magic, while others seek in magic a banal satisfaction of lust – the efforts of Hollywood and so forth shed light on this topic quite vividly. And for those who really desire freedom, neither the first (dogmatized) nor the second (openly consumeristic) approaches are suitable. Only self-control, honesty with oneself, and a desire for a genuine, unfeigned life can provide an answer here. The article inspires. Thank you!

  2. Thank you for the article.
Neither refusal nor blind desire… mm… Control. The middle ground, as always. Very curious.

  3. I was thinking about which article to place my question in. I decided to put it here. Recently, my attention was drawn to a distractor such as the unification of the concepts of love and sex. After all, one can love a person (and not just a person) of the same or opposite gender without the need for a base sexual act with him/her? And this solves so many problems. For example, the problem of unrequited “love.” After all, this often just implies the unwillingness to engage in copulation. At the same time, “friendly relationships” could well be accepted and developed quite normally. And I absolutely agree that “there is no friendship – there is love.” In any case, energies can be much more closely united in such a “friendly” communication than in just a sexual act. This would be Love, but freed from sex. Or is it “sexual interaction” but of a higher level?..
Freeing love from sex opens up a colossal field for the development of consciousness, which is otherwise hidden behind fears and complexes arising from the “animal-sexual” component.

On the other hand, we can recall Crowley, who claimed that for him every sexual act was a magical act. That is, sex falls into the category of “sexual magic,” where it is used not as a goal, but as a means for rituals of this direction, where they are appropriate according to the Path. Crowley, as we know, even employed prostitutes in this regard, and it’s unlikely there was talk of love in such cases. And it is not for us to judge someone else’s Path…

Of course, finding a partner where both love and sex can unite is the ideal state, but one cannot just obtain it at will. I would even say that this is rarely directly given to someone… It can be a long path, and the distractor prevents movement here and now… Can it be removed by dividing it as I described above?

Is it really a distractor? Is this the way out?

Enmerkar, please tell me what you think about this, what do you think?

    • Sex, as a fusion of energies, certainly does not boil down to a sexual act, as a contact of bodies. However, without this (bodily) contact, it is very difficult to achieve complete fusion of energies. The physical act is accompanied by the uniting (even if temporary) of those “dense” energies, which are quite labor-intensive to connect in other ways. Obviously, from a magical standpoint, uniting only this “lower” component of Creative processes without integrating the “upper” levels is useless, and often leads to huge energy emissions that dissipate in vain and are absorbed by numerous hangers-on. At the same time, the integration of the “upper” components without relying on the body is also not very fruitful. Just like a spell, to gain maximum realization strength, must not only be consciously understood and thought out, but also pronounced, maximum collaborative creativity is possible, including, on the condition of physical support. And, of course, it is the absence of sex that often gives relationships a certain “upliftedness,” greatly simplifies and relaxes them, but at the same time deprives them of productive realization energy.

  4. Hello. What does ‘activate’ mean? You clearly defined that ‘activation’ (i.e., neutralization of some binder) is necessary for any implementation ritual, including for targeted external influences. Please tell me under what purposes deep ‘activation’ is required. Also, please explain the difference between the activation and realization of erotic potential. I have the impression that this article states that it is necessary to ‘activate/neutralize the binder’ at the beginning, and then, based on the spontaneous creative impulse, to achieve realization. That is, this might mean that we are not talking about finding support/vector for erotic in the manifested world, some partner, but, for example, visualization in the manner of some shaktism or Himalayan tantra. That is, a literal ‘activation’, not implying realization.
